the above posters are correct. For the longest time i knew about 3 or 4 tricks that i could do and did them so much that my personal drunk test (when i know i have to stop) was when i couldn't do a false shuffle variation (swing cut but you turn things over and such) that I invented while on a plane to oregon, and Wayne Houchins Invisible palm. Now i have a whole routine of about 8 or so that i can do. You really only need a few. Most magicians start out by learning a lot of tricks but not being able to preform them well and then we learn that all it takes is to be able to do a few but be really really good with them. You also might try to create a theme. My theme is how magicians love to cheat at cards (i am a card magican) and then why people enjoy magic/ why I do magic.

I use the same sort of theme in card stuff but I use hte patter of I hate traditional cheats once that bottom deal and such..

Than a belgian friend of mine taight me a funny belgian shiffle which I use (for the purpose of my performance I call it the English shuffle)...with the this walys makes people laugh and u simple shake the deck and its complete guaranteed to get atleast a snigger...noce little ice breaker to get ambitious card going.

Oh i dont do any bottom dealing or second dealing (i prob would if i could do it; the 2nd deal is a marvelous concept that i would love to learn) Mainly its in Wayne Houchins Invisible palm when talking about palming cards. My usual patter follows along the lines of how when my fraternity plays poker i love to cheat and i have cheated at our chapters of Theta Chi and Phi Tau because my friends are idiots and when you know how do sleights you can best your non magical friends, especially when they're drunk (then if im doing it fro a little kid i tell them thats why you shouldnt drink)
