Here's a tutorial video of how to convert water into marbles. It looks really great, and you can have great fun with it.. You can hold them in your hands like real marbles, drop them into the glass of water, and POOF.. they're gone!

It requires some preparation, but it's well worth it. I even use it in some effects involving marbles..

Looking at the comments for the video, apart from the usual references to other peoples supposed homosexuality or their mothers, there appears to be a fair amount of doubt as to the authenticity of it's claims.

Several commenters maintain that they tried it and it didn't work with further commenters critisising them for their credulity for even attempting such a feat and putting forth the hypothesis that clear marbles were secretly submerged within the liquid and this was the secret behind the cunning ruse.

I don't think they used those exact words though.

Presumably these here polymers are manufactured, which would require a manufacturing process, which in turn could be similar to the process pictured, but I'm guessing it's faked, simply because I can't fathom a reason why the surface of the container wouldn't solidify, or how one could remove a sphere of the stuff (let alone several discrete spheres in one go).

I've tried it.. Works fine for me. Even though I didn't do it myself, my mum made it for me and works great ! I'll get you the exact steps asap !

The youtube video inplies that you're creating a liquid which turns into solid balls when you expose it to the air whereas the jelly marbles just appear to disappear when you put them in water but retain there spherical shape.

Watching the video on the Steve Spangler site, the jelly marbles look identical to the youtube video implying the youtube vid is a trick.

Incidentally, I know want to own jelly marbles and the rest of the site looks like it contains many interesting science experiments that could be abused in the name of conjuring.

Hey guys.. As some of you may know, I'm in university and reside in a hostel. I came across this experiment in my summer hols, and my mum saw it and made the stuff for me.

Anyway, I just called my mum (a professional chef), and she said that the instructions shown on the video are incomplete and you require some other materials and directions too. She said she will e-mail me the instructions. Will post them as soon as I get them !
