It's not really a proper weekend if you don't have to call your brief to stand bail. Hmmm... Any road up, there are loads of restaurants on the market place, which is well within staggering distance. As are more pubs. Lovely pubs.

And did you know that Hitchin was the last place in the UK to prosecute an inanimate object? Or that it was the first to introduce black bin bags. Imagine that! And it's the birthplace of Valerie Singleton, Jennie Bond AND Richard Whitmore. Bit of a hotspot for BBC newsreaders, old Hitchin. But pubs, yeah? Focus on the pubs. Ignore the newsreaders hanging feral from the trees and think of the pubs.

My number is 07731916965 if anyone want to meet up early or needs any info.

the Sun Hotel is a good place to meet and for a drink, I am sure some of you will be staying there.

I've been scoping out the local hostelries and it seems there's a real ale pub almost on the Priory's doorstep: the Half Moon on Queen Street. Right opposite the hotel there's a restaurant called Just Deserts that sells... wait for it... only deserts.

Too much sugar, potentially good real ale, you lot and a swirling kaleidoscope of ideas. What can possibly go wrong?

As a mere day tripper I'm going to feel a bit out of it. :-)

There is some street parking but migt be hard to get a space on a Sat, there are plenty of car parks but not sure what it would cost for the day.

I was led to believe that the venue had its own car park. If it hasn't, I won't be there.

Google Earth shows it to be a big hotel. There'll be parking.
