I worry the same about DVD's now because being a natural hoarder (FTW!) I still have lots of videos I will never watch again taking up room in my house and are now probably unable to sell to anyone, anywhere.
I used to have hundreds of videos and then one day I decided to donate them to charity (checking that they were all 'appropriate'). The next day I received an email from Firebox informing me that for a very reasonable price I could purchase a magical device that can transfer all my videos to digital files on my computer.
I was very close to tears and I still don't think I've gotten over it. I'm welling up now just thinking about it. I think I need a lie down.
I would not feel too bad about it, have you watched a video recently?
I got a boxset of DVD's for Christmas which included some older films that were clearly shot for video and remastered and I thought the quality was shocking. Having still got the original video I put it in to the video recorder to check the difference - it was awful.
As we are subjected more and more to super high resolution, high definition, high quality yadda, yadda, yadda technology we come to expect more. Even the picture quality at the cinema is beginning to annoy me as I can wait for it to be released on blu-ray and get a sharper picture on my TV at home.
