Hi there; how about

3 cards montey - there was a thread on this last week :
http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic31628.php&highlight=

10 cards poker game. I've seen it in Paul Zennon's Street magic, also in Simon Lovell's How to cheat at everything. Just checked Paul Wilson's site, he has some variations of his own, but I don't know about them personally.

On Paul Wilson's site, there is also a trick called Fan 2 C, in which five cards visibly change into a Royal Flush. Might be interresting?

I'm sure other much more experienced people than me will give you more advice.

Question: why only card gambling?

How about the three shell game, fast and loose, dice etc...?

School for Scoundrels have some DVDs on it.

Also as mentionned above Simon Lovell's book has games with dice, matches etc... and of course cards.

Cheers
LP.

I'd recommend Simon Lovell's book too providing your willing to put in a bit of practice and your moral compass is a little bit faulty like my own. Todd Robbins has done a similar book called The Modern Con Man: How to Get Something for Nothing which, without looking in it, I seem to recall has a few card scams as well as bar bets and that sort of thing. Todd's is quite a lot smaller but I found it a much more entertaining read.

David Forrest has a good gambling-related card trick on his 2wo Faced DVD. I forget what it's called, and it uses gaffed cards, but it's pretty good.

My own program
At least 90 minute show (max 3 hours) for private parties.
The show mixes pure sleight of hand with mentalism and storytelling on the theme of Gambling (mostly Poker, 3 shell game, side betting, dice tricks, ...)
All versions of the routines are totally original even if some names sound familiar.
All the routines make sense in front of good poker players.
Cold Case Closer is directly linked to Las Vegas.

My Le Bateleur, which is a physical confabulation set in 1898, published in Oracle Magic Magazine. Cards, bets, and a ring vanish...

There are two excellent effects with a gambling theme:

1) Lucky Card, in Royal Road To Card Magic. Honestly, this sounds simple but the patter which I always elaborate on fits your design brief like the missing final jigsaw puzzle piece that you lost in your sofa. The patter (before people realise I'm doing a trick) is how I was playing poker the other night and kept on winning... The premise is a lucky card kept on reappearing in successive hands at Texas Hold Em Poker. Weirdly, when later playing bridge the same card kept reappearing. Their merely thought of card keeps popping up when being dealt cards. And then a climax! Check it out: it's one of the strongest effects in RRTCM which maintains RRTCM's timeless appeal.

When done with natural offbeat patter it really does defy belief (also in yourself as to how clever the methodology is).

2) Royal Scam - John Bannon. You can adopt the patter for a gambling theme, as the 2 climaxes are red backed aces changing into different rainbow deck style backs and the aces turning into a royal flush.

I implore anyone to get this effect regardless of gambling theme or otherwise, as it is visual, colourful, fun, hard-hitting and astounding (thus ticking the visual, colourful, fun, hard-hitting and astounding tick boxes).

Bisous

Make it simple, a good 10 card poker deal can't be wrong.

Beyond fabulous by John Bannon is by far one of the best effects I have come across let alone gambling routines it combines a four ace trick and a royal flush all in one and it's practcally impromptu what more can you ask for. It is my closer to my gambling theme set and I can say it probably always will be thats how good it is
