so after 4 years of studying the art of magic i agreed to perform magic at a collegues wedding. There were 85 guests. i was there for 2.5 hours and charged £150
What i did:
I turned up ready to go at 2pm nervous and anxous to find out they would be another half hour, so to sharpen up i had half a pint, whilst waiting.
the bride and groom arrived first and after a quick chat he introduced me to the first arriving guests, so here i was my first trick at a paid performance, i started off with simple card tricks like ultimate transpo ambitious card etc then went on to some coin work, ending in their coin finding thier card ala in a flash,
everyone was outside of the manor around picnic like desks I basicly went from table to table performing similar stuff and a few other things like wonderlock, interlace, bill changes etc. With each new table my confidence grew which was good, especially for me as nerves sometimes held me back in the past.
a few mishaps happened mainly through nerves during interlacethering didnt quite hit where it was supposed to and 2 people saw but the rest of the table were very impressed and i dropped a card after a DL revealing a different card but i accept these things can happen especially on your first time.
What have i learnt?
to mix it up a bit more, looking back i did alot of very similar tricks on different groups, i had my pockets fulll of a variety of things but kept doing the same ones, so next time i shall definatly mix it up more.
what do i do next?
i want to get a website up and running, get insurance, and market myself through wedding fayres, leaflets etc.
erm that is all i can think of so far, just wanted to share my experiance as feel pleased i have finally gone and done it, i feel its a big step.
