Those mysteries of life...

Postby Lady of Mystery » Aug 18th, '09, 16:55

...like flies and why to do they feel the need to fly in a little square round and round the middle of the room? I was sitting watching one yesterday, just going around and around (yes, I need to get out more). But why do they do it?

and bees, they get trapped in your house, forever flying into a closed window trying to get out. As soon as you open that window for them they move onto another, closed window. :?

FLY-AWAY

This unique product is designed to eliminate the sanitation problems that restaurants and food preparation facilities often face due to the buildup of organic waste like grease, in drains and grease traps as well as under heavy equipment. FLY-AWAY is a highly concentrated bacterial gel that actually digests grease buildup that occurs over time. By inhibiting the normal biological production of odor causing compounds, FLY-AWAY is able to remove foul odors from drain lines, grease traps, and sewer lines. Contains Citronella, a natural fly repellent.

What I can't understand is how a fly can easily find a tiny hole in a screen to get into the house, and can't find a honking great open window to get out again.

Hell, I've had house "guests" that fit into that description

Here in New England we have a little black fly that comes up into your home through the sewer system. It's very annoying in that you must keep all sinks plugged tight. But the flies seem to have gotten smart in that we now have ants that come up through the drains who are strong enough to move the plug and set themselves and their fuzzy buddies loose on we unsuspecting humans. :?

Over here we get flying ants and often other bugs. I remember one night ago I heard a giant cockroach try to fly into my room (thankfully I have a screen on the windows.).

Not to mention we also get tiny Wall scorpions and tiny wall centipedes.

On the subject of the mysteries of life, what i'll get is how Sod's Law work: are they are general rules, principles, etc?

Fly spray works very well at getting rid of unwanted 'guests'. If you aim for the eyes, one dosage is usually enough to last for a lifetime. They'll never bother (or even speak to) you again.

How come the Bank of England has not minted a 99p coin? Everything seems to cost 99p, £1.99, £2.99, etc. etc. Think of all the copper it would save.

the Curator, I don't think Lomster needs to change her perfume. After all, she is "the epitome of sexiness" and "the ultimate sex magnet". 8)

When would you ever get them, though? You certainly wouldn't get them in your change.

If the insects are learning to cooperate, humanity's days are numbered...

I've just heard from my cousin in California that some vicious wasps have made a nest right next to the front door of her apartment block. Nobody dares go in or out during the hours of daylight.
