and I would agree!
Why not use this opportunity to become a magician!

Think of your presentation style, the image of the magician you are attempting to create and develop a trick into your magic!

Are you a comedy, a mentalist, a serious dead pan performer?

Please don't take this the wrong way. We all have access to the same tricks but it's what you do with them that makes the magic.

Ya, suffice to say, screw the DVD's!

Magic=Creation

There are countless routines that can be acheived by somply testing your ring out on everything that reacts to it, maybe you could begin researching magnets and their effects. (that would be intersting?)

Also broaden your scope from maybe just telekinesis effect, to that of choosing objects...based on which one is attracted to your rings...clocks, compasses...

Yes!

Totally what theseer said.....magnets are very powerful tools and often overlooked in effects!

Now that the strongest Neodymium magnets have been refined to produce a strenth rating of N52 (Previously N50) there are countless things you can do, you imagination is your limit.

Im working on 3 effects with this and its goin pretty well

There is another ancient resources out there known as a "Book" that might be able to toss you a bone or two. Specifically Chuck Leach's book "PSYCHOKINESIS: Controlling Physical Objects with the Mind" Though it centers on using a different sort of PK device it certainly has material in it that could be adapted to the rings.

If you do traditional magic you might want to look into both, the Magnetic Dollar Bills which are used in a Chop Cup type routine and the PK Putty. Either one is relatively cheap to buy but should work well with your ring provided you can engage your imagination and play with them for a while.

Harry Anderson pointed that out decades ago, how a real magician sits down with an object or two and plays with them until he comes up with something or two. You might want to give it a try.

Bearing in mind the inherent friability of the material (which is essentally a highly-compacted powder), it's not something which I'd imagine would be at all viable :?

As Rob points out, the material from which the rings is made isn't really conducive to engraving and is in fact, known to "shatter" when dropped onto a hard surface.

If you were to get an engraving I'd find the best professional jeweler you can, explain to him what the material is and if he could work with something so "unusual" to his industry. If he should ask why you have a ring that is made of a powerful magnet, explain that its therapeutic and helps with pain management -- there are rings sold for just that reason that are identical to the ring you are in the possession of.

 Ooops... I probably shouldn't have said that... good thing I didn't mention that they sell for under $10.00 each

So I guess your response makes nine then :)

Regarding the idea of engraving a PK ring: that makes me worried. The ring should not be the centre of any kind of attention. Showing that it has an engraving is going to mean that it's a 'magic ring' etc... Bad idea IMHO. Far better, if you need to go down this road, to switch in and out an engraved non-PK ring with a PK version. But like I say, I believe it should be an invisible prop and not a feature.

No it makes (including yours) 9 responses without an answer to his question, I was the first to answer it.

Screw the parentheses!

Lebanon Circle's Compendium of Bizarre Magic has a section called "Pseudo Psycho". This is a collection of PK effects, from the clinical ESP-test type (making a pinwheel spin) to the spooky bizarre type (bringing a dead bone to life). Certainly by the time you've gone through them, you should be able to start thinking of your own effects.

Lots of other goodies in the Compendium, too. Well worth the £20.

You were?

I don't see where you mention a single book or dvd where I know I pointed him to at least one and even with the hint of sarcasm offered by The Curator, he is 100% on the mark when it comes to "HOW" to work with ANY prop.

Yes, there was a side track that took us away from the original question but it was related... and Ted's response on the engraving issues was quite important, wish I had considered that point when I replied to the question.

So what your post up here boils down to is that you wish to express a very arrogant point towards at least three very solid veterans that have probably been doing magic longer than you've been out of diapers, rather than actually understanding the fact that we did give honest answers to the poster's question... answers applicable to their need. Yet, in your sarcasm you offered NOTHING other than smartass sarcasm.

Maybe you need to think things through a bit before you take such actions.
