It rarely pays to be the first to get a new magic effect. There's no hurry; especially at £250. Just wait for the first reviews to surface and make an informed decision.

Just noticed the logo for the Winter Olympics 2010 might provide an interesting angle on this...

So,it does not really 'walk' as stated in the ad...lot's of extra material required, as well, so not as clean as the ad says...and what's with torch initial reveal...surely the animation is the effect?

It was posted by Janet Harris (I think his wife ?) on another forum, so I guess this is it.
I agree on the walk part, I expected something more spectacular. Imo the way it is presented makes the bag very suspicious :?

I really wish it were michigan J. Frog :(

Still, I cannot figure out if I like this effect or not. I can imagine it getting some strong reactions, but also are you really, in the middle of a close up routine, pull out some playdo and get the audience to make a little man, adding all kinds of bits of c*** (not the best) to it, before starting the effect which I assume would be a finale to the routine.

Im eager to see this reviewed, but I think 250 nicker seems a bit steep for it though.

Lol. I don't say that I don't like it but based on the advertising :

"YES, HE'S MOVING FORWARD AND ACTUALLY WALKING... ONE ASTONISHING STEP AT A TIME!"?????
....
"His entire clay body VISIBLY TURNS AND LURCHES FORWARD with each dramatic step."????
.....
"And after about 6 or 7 steps,"?????

that is why you would expect something more. Just my 2 cts. I wouldn't buy it even if it was more spectacular since it's quite pricey for someone who entertains mostly friends and his 2 year old daughter (she is quite amazed by the d'lites btw :D )

Well, obviously I was completely wrong thinking this was some bizzarre hoax or magical learning exercise.
I think it's pretty much as expected. No matter how much we all wanted to see this perfectly formed sculpture taking actual realistic steps I don't think anyone could have thought that was ever going to happen.
I can understand why there wasn't a demo up earlier. Now I've seen it it is fairly obvious how it is done and most people will be able to put one of these together for under £30.

Once again, another example of an effect that doesn't seem, at first glance, to live up to the hype. And the fact that the ad blurb is open to interpretation doesn't help. £250 seems excessive; OK if you've got money to burn, otherwise a likely candidate for the Meh Award.

I could be wrong about this, but first impressions and all that.

So, does anyone have any idea how to make a little putty man ACTUALY walk? :?:

Let's imagine that you don't offer the opportunity to the spec to build the model himself, but make it yourself instead in front of them, as close as possible to the gimmicked model, which you would then switch.

In this case there could be a mini-skeleton inside, with whatever piece of electronic / PK thing inside.

Maybe one for Tomo? :D
