This forum looks exactly like the forum that Penguin Magic runs. I guess it is a standard template that comes with some php editor. If anyone knows the editor or product, please let me know.

Well, my name is sparky, sparkster, sparkomatic. Make up anything with a spark in it and I'll respond. I'm new to magic. I had some time on my hands at work, so I picked up cards. I can't seem to put them down. I have dreams about cards. I know that sounds weird, but I let card magic consume me. I forgot to put my age and status in the location field. I'll fix that. I'm 30 and I catagorize myself as EN (Eager Newbie). I live in the US.

I've learn a lot of interesting things about cards over the past three months. I learned basic grips, sleights and flourishes. Of course, I have not mastered much and need much help, especially on my DL. Just not getting the concept of one card hiding behind the other. Or, I get the concept, but I can't do it.

I'm hoping to use magic to impress friends, family and everyday people. I look forward to using this site to help me reach my goals.

Thank you for reading,
Spark

Hi Sparky - welcome to the madhouse. (I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the Magic Piano so far - perhaps it's too old for all these youngsters?!)

You'll find we tend to concentrate on things from a UK point of view although we have members in Spain, France, S.Africa, New Zealand and many other places so forgive us if we ramble on about things like TV programmes you won't have seen. On the other hand, we often get to see or hear USA items a long time after the event so perhaps you could let us know what's cookin' in the US from time to time?

I didn't realize I wasn't logged in. If you were wondering, that was me who wrote that last post.

I also changed my status. I'm AH. Wasn't really sure I belonged in EN. I'm still not sure. Oh, well. Maybe you guys have some thoughts as to what my status should be. I know the basics, but I haven't mastered some of the essential moves, like the DL. The card doesn't consistently stay in line. I'm in to impromptu, close up card magic. Let me give you a break down of my knowledge/skill:

Drop Sleight - fair
Elmsley count - ok
Biddle Move - ok
Glide - excellent

Patter - ok doky
Energy - ok

Easy Flourishes - ok
Productions - not so good
Controls - ok

If you can think of a good status for me, let me know. If you need more info, let me know.

Talk to you later,
Spark

I get that question a lot. There are two reasons that sealed my fateful nichname.

The first is a friend named Flamer. He was called Flamer because he wore light pascal colors. We both played in the drumline. Flamer was a year ahead of me and was an excellent player. When I came out of the middle school, I was a good player. Since we hung out a lot, they said I was a Spark off the Flame; hence, the name sparky.

This wasn't the only reason, as I said before. A drill instructor by the name of Harry called me a dog. He use to say, "You're a dog." He was talking about my relationships with many girls in the band program. Harry would shake his head in disgust and say, "Sparky, you dog."

So it stuck. I tried to stop people from calling me Sparky about 3 years ago. They would all slip and I got tired of telling them. I couldn't win. When I finally gave up, they all started calling me Greg. I use my nickname as a screen while in cyberspace. I don't like giving people my real name.

Hope that answers your question. More than you wanted to know. My bad.

Later

"What is the real name of the elmsley count?" is a question on a website to get access to the secrets area... can't remember which site, but it's definitely an access question!
