To be honest I don't like the coin thing for me it is just to conveluted, but thats me and I can't spell conveluted.

I'm working on an idea for that particular space however (seeing as I will never use the coin thing) but I don't have the details. But imagine this. Your sitting around. Somebody chooses a card and signes the card. Ambitious card followes then suddenly the card does not come to the top. Upon a search the card is now not even in the deck. Explain that it doesn't really matter because this was not supposed to be a card trick it is supposed to be a prediction. Point to the ipod which has been sitting there the whole time, the spectator locates the doodle app as you explain that last night you had a premonition and you wrote it down. They activate the doodle app and there not only is it seen that you wrote down the selected card, their name, (not signature) but name is below the prediction.

I did try this (yes without practice this morning what a horrible thing to do) Every Friday is meeting day at our company and there were people milling about whom we didn't know as they were here on training for other systems. I asked my supervisor for one of the names. The meeting ended and they were standing around talking to our tecks opps supervisor and the trainer, getting coffee before sitting down for their training. I boldly walked up and did pretty much as I described above.

In retro spect the way this worked I could have easily done this on paper in a sealed envelope yadda, yadda. But I didn't and these guys are all technicians and one suspected the ipod but after he played with my ipod for awhile he dismissed it.

This could be nice if you are going to a party where you don't know a lot of people but you can get a few names in advance, you could do it repeatedly if you really had nothing else to do, (not that I think it should be done repeatedly) I'm just brainstorming because I really think this is a great tool.

Honestly thanks for creating it, I've been involved in magic since the early 70s Since my father opened up a magic shop in Canada which is still going strong I had a shop for 10 years before moving to the States and gave magic a rest, I've become very jaded and it is a really nice feeling when something like this comes along, its just good fun magic.

Thank you bmat . . .

I feel the same way every time I perform iForce.

I really wish I could tell you what we're working on next, but I gotta keep it under wraps until it's released.

All I can say is . . . bmat, when you see what we're working on, you'll feel another big boost of excitement.

Greg Rostami

P.S. Since I put up all the missing instruction videos for iForce, I haven't heard anything back from anyone. If anybody here tries the videos, could you please respond to this thread with a short comment. Thank you.

"Doodle" is approved by Apple to hide iForce . . .

Postby Greg Rostami » Nov 10th, '09, 06:31

The evolution of iForce continues . . .

YES . . . Apple just approved "Doodle!" This is what you had all asked for, and tonight "Doodle!" is available for purchase from the iTunes App store for 99 cents:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/doodle/i ... ?mt=8&uo=6

You'll probably notice that the software company that we created for "Doodle!" is called "Recreation Software" NOT "Rostami Magic". This was to further hide iForce from any secret-seekers.

The icon and the splash screen for "Doodle" is EXACTLY the same as "iForce". So if someone tries to bust your magic by downloading "Doodle" they will find nothing more then a simple doodling application.

In less then 2 weeks Apple will also approve the latest version of iForce. We have a few surprises coming up in the new iForce. The biggest change is we're going to drop the "(codename: Doodle)" from the title; so the program is simply going to be "iForce" and the iTunes icon will be the now familiar hand with lightning.

I would love to hear your thoughts and insight about this,
Greg Rostami

Will any changes be a free upgrade for those who have the original?

I assume iForce users do not need to purchase Doodle!? I like the Recreation (Recreational?) Software sneakiness; nice touch.

I'm confused, is there now going to be no more doodle app but an iforce app? That makes no sense. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what you are talking about. It always makes me nervous when folks start messing with a good thing.

I think it means if anyone searches for Doodle app after seeing you do the trick, they'll just get an app that draws stuff on the screen AKA Doodle. If they wanted to find iForce, they'll have to specifically use the phrase iForce. Good all round I think.

I got my iphone today (now orange have it on there network!) I downloaded the App and I must say It is very good. It worked out at £1.79 which I think is a bargin, well worth getting if you own an iphone.

I think the price should be alot higher by the way.

Here's a new routine that I started playing with yesterday. This was inspired by an idea from lumberjohn (thank you John, it's REALLY good).

Make sure there are 16 or less different items on a table. You demonstrate how certain words in marketing can influence decisions to buy or reject an item.

Start by writing the item for sale using "Doodle".

"From ALL the items on the table I'm gonna try to sell you ONE of them, I've already written down which item it is . . . let me demonstrate how well these marketing words work."

Have the spec pick any 2 items on the table and then try to use marketing words to influence their decision to buy (keep) one of the two. Let's say they pick fork and napkin, you say "soft napkin, sharp fork" . . . no matter which one they pick, you act like that's exactly the one you were trying to "sell" to them. Remind them how THEY picked both items and THEY eliminated one.

You then pick 2 items (make sure BOTH items are NOT in your preset) and once again you try to sell them on one of the two.(It doesn't matter which one they eliminate since both items are NOT in your preset).

Alternate like this back and forth until you narrow down the decision to only 2 items, and they get to buy (keep) whichever one they want. You turn over the iPhone, and take a bow.

may the Force be with you,
Greg Rostami

P.S. I wonder if Max Maven has an iPhone with iForce on it?!

Hello friends,

First, both Randy and I would like to thank all of you for your support of iForce over the last month. Your generous words and reviews have really inspired us.

Unfortunately, given the secret nature of magic, there's a dark side to what's happened ever since we released iForce.

After 4 days of our release, we noticed an unusually high surge in one star ratings on the App Store. None of those one star ratings had any comments, hence we had no idea why people didn't like our App. We had 3 theories for the one star ratings:

1. People didn't understand iForce
2. Our competition was posting one star ratings
3. The magic community was trying to hide iForce from others

In the last 2 days we now KNOW that almost all of the one star ratings are from reason 3. We started a month ago with a solid 5 star rating, now we're down to 3 stars. Here are a few of the one star ratings:

Amazing!
by holymuffinman on Nov 23, 2009 v1.1
“As long as this app stays on the down low, it will be great. Rate it low so people don’t find out about it.”

Awesom
by stasyschneider on Nov 23, 2009 v1.1
“I love but i dont want everybody to know about it!:)”

Nice
by Ticktack12345 on Nov 23, 2009 v1.1
“This app is awesome. I’m rating it down so word doesn’t get out on it.”

And we suspect that other 1 star ratings are for the same reason as above . . .

Much Too Easy for the Average Spectator to Figure Out
by punkin puss and mushmouse on Nov 1, 2009 v1.0
“Looks kind of cool and I had fun playing around with it, but people are not really fooled and they know the hijinks is app related. Gets boring real fast. I added an extra star to my rating though becuase the developers over-hyping of this app is top notch!”

So . . . what I'm about to say is directed towards the people that have been dishonestly giving us bad ratings.

Giving iForce a one star rating so that it is harder to find will only hurt our ability to produce future fabulous apps like this one. Please, rate the app with an honest rating.

There are almost 7 billion people in the world, and only about 50 million iPhones/iPod Touches. iForce is on a very very small fraction of those devices. The chances of you performing for someone that knows about iForce is 1 in 200,000 . . . trust me, you've got NOTHING to worry about.

We perform iForce more then any other trick. We've NEVER had someone say "I already know about iForce."

We've done SO much to accommodate our users in the magic community:

1. Make iForce affordable to everyone
2. We've put all of our marketing money ONLY in the magic community (we haven't marketed to the general masses)
3. Create Recreation Software with "Doodle" for the secret-seekers
4. Remove all instances of the word "Doodle" in any of the search words for iForce
5. Make sure people don't accidentally stumble onto the secret screens.

So with that said, please help us continue the future development of iForce and our other amazing magic apps. If you haven't done so already, please visit our page on the app store and give us your honest rating.
iForceOnAppStore

I don't wanna sound cliche, but you've only seen the tip of the ice berg.

Thank you for your time,
Greg Rostami
