So slightly off topic...

It has been a very long while since I have posted on here, but I just needed to share this.

A while back, when I used to need a magic book or something I would go to Penguin Magic, as they had large collections. However, eventually they ran out of stock on most of those books.

Over the years, they have become more and more obsessed with selling little simple explanations of old classic effects to a younger, youtube magician generation. It is almost hard not to laugh at the pathetic things they try to sell each year. They sell small effects as their own, and perform them for drunk people.

I've been watching the downfall of the site. Even more recently, they have become obsessed with selling DVD's or downloadable videos for each individual effect, most involving little explanation on good performing skills, or so I would assume from what I have seen from today's youtube magicians.

I decided to check to see what was going on, and found this extremely funny piece of material. Oz Pearlman is trying to sell his new DVD "Coin Under Watch," In which he shows you how dumb drunk people can be...

You have to watch this video. It is hilariously pathetic!

Listen to what he says at about 30 seconds, after he says "Don't be fooled by the title..."! It is priceless. Or should I say overpriced at $20.00?

20 dollars for that one effect? Seriously?!

Thats what, twelve, fourteen pounds British? If it was a gimmick coin trick or some kind of gaff I could understand but thats rediculous.

Also, in the video, the big guy in the red shirt has the creepiest laugh I've ever heard. Its like a baby's laugh coming out of a giant bald man. Urg

As I was once taught in my long departed youth - it is as important to watch a bad performance once in a while as it is to watch a good performance. You can learn equally from both. Let us not be too scathing. However, I do share the dislike of blatant marketing practices, having been exposed to many and fallen for none. There are, as you will all hopefully become aware one day, great advantages to be had from old age! Much love. Kryzal x
