Can someone reveal this magic?

Postby fentagin » Nov 29th, '09, 22:02

Hey! I am a new member here and this is my first post.. A friend of mine did a coin trick to me and it was really cool! I wonder if you can tell me how it's done..

For the trick he used a coin, a handkerchief and a very small glass semi-filled with water. All the above were common things and non-prepared in any way.

The trick (i hope you understand, i cant give a better explanation):

He put the coin under the handkerchief and caught it with the other hand which was above the handkerchief, in a way that I couldn't see the coin (it was under the handkerchief) but I could definitely see it's shape through the handkerchief. Then, while holding the handkerchief and the coin with the one hand, he placed the handkerchief above the glass so that the glass was just under the coin. He then told me to hold the coin as he did and drop it when he gives me the signal. He counted to 3, I dropped it and I heard the coin-glass sound. Then he told me to put aside the handkerchief that was resting with the glass under it. I did and the coin was gone!

I searched but I didn't find how he did it! I only found the revelation for similar tricks. Can anyone reveal it? Thanks!!!

There is a method in which nothing is needed to buy at all. Simply use a coin, glass and a handkerchief!

If you practice it enough you could achieve this effect with little magic knowledge... Learn the basics and it shall show you the light.

Sure, I'll tell you how it's done.

If that doesn't work for you, try this one. IDDQD

( I wonder how many people here will recognize those two codes.)

Thanks for the answers!

@ magicdiscoman

I have the second book you mentioned (Mark Wilson - Complete Course in Magic) but I cant find this trick in there.. Are you sure the trick is explained in this book? If yes, could you please tell me where to look?

Thank you very much!!!

I don't think it is in Mark Wilson's...definitely in the original Tarbell though.

Is this an old SNES code? I can remember mashing that in on pretty much every SNES game ever.

Oh and we don't reveal tricks, but as stated above get yourself Mark Wilson's Complete Course In Magic. Everything you need to do tricks like that and many more is in there if you are willing to spend time learning them and not revealing them, as we do!

Edited by me: Apologies, didn't see you owned Mark Wilson's. Still, learn some of the great tricks in there, something your friend hasn't seen, practice it then knock his socks off with it.

Nope, that's definitely a Game Boy cheat code.

Tetris?

Oh damn. Another thread gone off topic...

Thanks for the replies guys!

@ Lenoir

You said it is in Tarbell but do you know which volume? Thank you very much! If someone knows other books with this trick, it would be nice to get a reply from him..

Tarbell has been modified quite a lot over the year. When Lenoir said the original Tarbell, I presume he was talking about the original lessons that were sent out, not the modified version that were later bound into volumes.

You can get the original lessons http://www.lybrary.com/tarbell-course-p-34.html .

I do think the trick may also be in the print books, but I'm not sure where.
