Christmas treats - what next (non-cards)?

Postby TimEden » Dec 1st, '09, 01:10

I know I'm going to regret this (C.U.P.S.) but I know a lot of you like this kind of thing:

I'm mostly a card man - mixture of gimmicks and standard deck stuff.
Love Cameron Francis and Michael Ammar particularly.

The only non-card stuff I do:
Prohibition (cap in bottle)
Enchanted Cube
Blindsight
Word in a Million
4th Dimension (Bob Cassidy)
Crazy Man's Handcuffs
Oddball (Marc Oberon)

Love them all though.

So with Santa having already bought me 4 DVDs worth of BBM card stuff (Francis/Montier) I'm after more non-card stuff.

Charming Chinese Challenge impressed me at the last Manchester meet.

Any other suggestions? (and really I'm after one-off killer effects rather than, say, a book on coin magic).

Advice would be much appreciated (C.U.P.S. aside!).

Cheers,
Tim

have you seen Rodger Lovin's Shaker? Its not new, but i recon that It looks excelent.

http://www.kernowmagic.co.uk/product_in ... ts_id=1631

What could be more natural for tables, than a salt shaker?

and.. its easy to routine this with other effects, since it contains elements of coin in bottle, chop cup ect.

For Christmas, I've ordered the following from Santa:

Kennedy's mystery box

Kennedy's stealth retractor

Miller's Cloak DVD

probably won't get any of that, but hey, one can hope :)

nothing...enjoy the gift you give yourself, by creating your own effects instead...

So - Beardy - PK touches...

Have investigated this a bit. Love this clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVH3BtGjvII

Is this the Banachek version? I was led to believe Banachek's was impromptu but in this clip (and others like it) I suspect IT plays a part.

I'm not looking for a full explanation but just want to make sure I get the right product. Any ideas which version is closest to that used in the vid? Anyone?

Can't see the vid, but if it is on youtube it is most probably loops involved.

Get the orignal manuscript, and odds are unless you are a bizarre/psychic performer, you will hate the presentation. The method, however, is pure and utter gold.

Though many magicians don't perform it.....

Hold tight though...in a couple of months time (end of jan/feb) there may be a new booklet out with 5 special effects of a certain young un-bearded mentalist......one of which is my very own methodology of an impromptu non-bizarre/psychic method of PK Touches...

Buy the original first though, and marvel at the genius of the method, even if you hate the presentation...

Then again, you may love the presentation!

Love

I agree with Iain. If you can do it, and are driven to, make the stuff up yourself. It's vastly more rewarding than listing effects wot you bought. (Although if you get pleasure from that, more power to you).

Am I not seeing any sponges on that list? Grab yourself a set of sponge balls and spongeball toolkit. Sponges are just such brilliant fun to perform and watch.

agreed with Lady of Mystery spongeballs are great, however do not get the protons dvd by Chris Priest as it is not the best spongeball routine I've ever come across and by no means am I saying this to keep it to myself
