Can anyone recommend a good source to learn this? Thank you.

I don't know if it's of much use, and you may already know, but Kenton Knepper and Rex Sikes' Wonder Readings has a small section on giving readings using playing cards.

I distinctly remember it being there and I even remember performing a reading for someone with something I learnt. You could adapt what you learn to fortunetelling. I Don't know.. Just a thought..

Hi Replicant;

here's one that's been on my amazon wish list for a while, don't have it yet, but it has good reviews elsewhere:

Cheers

May I suggest you something: Write the meaning of cards on the faces of playing cards; it will be far more easy for readings as you may combine various concept while simply reading them.
If you use stock reading, write some small horoscopes on the face of the cards. Same principle applies.
Something I do when I perform my own "reading routine".

If you combine the first effect from Capricornian Tales with some basic reading stuff, you'll have a showstopper.

"I want to do magic...but I don't want to be referred to as a magician." - A layman chatting to me about magic.

The Works sold a book and deck of cards for exactly this purpose a year or two back. I'll check Tuesday and see if they still do it.

Both are at www.mevproshop.com

Cannot get any better than these two sources...

Thanks, gents. I will check out those links. Unfortunately, the Ron Martin stuff does not appear to be for beginners, so I better steer clear.

just apply when you know of tarot cards to playing cards, playing cards can be treated in exactly the same way as the minor arcana with the exact same meanings.

Interesting link from the Curator, it leads to all sorts of other very useful sources of info including one giving the meanings of the Signs of The Zodiac with details of famous people born under each sign. Apparently Tiger Woods is a Virgo - now who'd have believed that  ?

2 books I like for this topic:

Playing Card Divination for Beginners: Fortune Telling with Ordinary Cards by Richard Webster. Out of print, and very expensive via most sources, but worth looking for if you can find it at the right price.

Fortune-Telling by Playing Cards by Nerys Dee. Seems like there are quite a few of these available that won't break the bank.

It seems many methods related to fortune telling with playing cards don't differ much from the tarot. Basically the 52 cards are used to mirror most of the minor arcana, with all the suits having their Tarot equivalents, and the spreads are pretty much the same (er, basically what Lommie says above...).
