Technical Forum Issue...

Postby Lenoir » Dec 16th, '09, 10:48

Harrrrooo,

Whenever I log into TM on my macbook, via safari or chrome(firefox has also been tried), I have a bit of a problem...

First off, when I actually enter my username and password and click sign in, it doesn't. It takes me back to the menu, un signed in.

Then when I try again, it works fine, but all the forum cookies(or biscuits, or something) are gone, so I canny see which posts are new etc...

So it seems like when I try the first time, it signs me in, deletes everything and then signs me out!

It works fine everywhere else, maybe I've changed a setting!

A prize for the fixer!

Are you logging on via a direct connection? Is it in your security settings to automatically delete third party cookies?

I can browse without problems from my home PC on Chrome but at work on IE I have similar issues due to the security settings on the work laptop.

The not knowing where the new posts are is particularly annoying.

I've had this on various machines on various sites.

Basically, the first login attempt logs that time as your most recent visit, and bases the New Posts database call on that (which is why you are getting no new posts). The second link lets you in.

The workaround I found (and it is only a workaround) is to go to the homepage, but instead of clicking on Login, click on Login to check New Messages, which will take you to your PMs. From there, you can get back to the homepage as normal.

Take care, Ian

BTW I use IE on a PC, so it's not browser or OS dependent.

Yeah, I have the same problem too (Firefox/Mac)
Thanks for the solution, Ian
