Hello,
I am a newbie to this forum and would appreciate some advice please.
I have been given a "double flash wand"
My question is this:
What ratio of ingredients do you use?
I ask this because they aren't the cheapest stuff around and i do not want to waste too much getting the right "mix".
Any help within the rules of the forum would be appreciated.

It all comes down to trial and error. STart with a small amount and see how it reacts. Build up to your desired effect.

Now please go and delete what you have said about how it works!¬!

I have one of those double firing wands and managed to push the wrong button so the flash went up my sleeve ruining a perfectly good shirt !

They usually have instructions but the general idea is to experiment - try paper about the size of a postage stamp and wool about the size of the end of a little finger (yes, I know, fingers vary!) - and see how it goes. OK, that'll cost a few sheets of 'stuff', but far better to get it right at leisure then you'll be able to load it the same way each time afterwards.

You want to be extremely careful with flash paper. I've heard stories about guys who have gotten 2nd degree burns on their arms or hands just from those little peaces of paper.

first off i may be new here but i really dont consider saying flash paper is concidered exposure. even if a layman were to somehow find this site the chances of them looking for how a wand works is slim to none, and if that is what they were looking for ,the chances of them even knowing what flash paper or flash cotton was is slim. so.... ya

yeah, but what you consider is besides the point to be frank with you - there's rules for this place, and we all agree to stick by them

The original post pre-editing contained references to FP FW and the way the wand works. It has since been dumbed down to respect those rules just mentioned!

Apologies to all concerned, I head read the rules beforehand and I too thought that the items I mentioned were merely of the pyrotechnical kind rather than being of a revealing nature and thus being a trick in itself.

It's probably best to err on the side of caution and see what comes back in the way of replies.

If i could chip in with my 2 cents worth

Mentioning the said paper is not in itself exposure, however when it is said in the context of a particular effect or gimmick then it does become exposure as it can tip the method. It is like saying wooly nylon, which tells someone very little and is not exposure. Mention the stuff when discussing a particular effect though and it could reveal a possible method. Hope this helps make things a bit clearer. jim
