secret sharpie

Postby jackleg » Dec 28th, '09, 21:37

Hi guys - another request to call upon your impressive search abilities: where/can I purchase a TT writer (boon style) that can be adapted or preferably is sold using a felt tip nib like a sharpie?

There is a writer out there called the super sharpie that is just this, it's all contained in a sharpie marker.

I had one and I found out the ink dried out too fast for my liking and then the nib of the writer cracked but that was just mine. Can't say anything about others as I've never really spoke to anyone who owned one.

I have wanted one for ages too, but unfortunately they do not make them anymore. If anyone knows where I can get one, I'd appreciate it.

They sell make them. I know Hocus Pocus sells them and probably Denny magic and a few other sites as well.

I had a super sharpie but it got mislaid whilst out performing and i wasn't too impressed with the handling of the writer element (without giving it away) not secure enough for me. hence the TT version sought after.

I use mine all the time - it's brilliant, easy natural handling and you end clean. The ink only dries out if you haven't got an airtight seal (amybe your ss was faulty ?).

Highly recommended

I second Kevin, use it constantly, one of the best investments I ever made. There are two different types of 'doodah', one that is perfect and the other type that has more nib showing that does seem to dry out a lot. I have both types and use the latter as a spare only. I also heard they were being discontinued and asked Chris Smith (the maker) and he said it's not true.

If you get a good one, you'll never regret it.

Two types?

Two types in what way?

Do you mean that there are two types commercially available? Or that there was one type, and it wasn't so good, so they've now improved it, and you should by the new type?

I have one and it dried out, and I've thought of buying a new one...

Mine had a long one on it and it dried out all the time, maybe a little one would be better.

See I like the type of writer that it is over TT anyday but I think it was the nib size that did me.

Maybe I might buy another one and give it another play.

The nib in the boon part. The one that dries out is like the nib has been stuck to the flat base, the one that is perfect has a little 'holder' molded in so the nib bit is smaller. Hope that makes sense.

Make sense... though I don't see why two are available, that seems odd, unless one is an old type and they've changed them to 'improve' the design...
