Aluminium Carrying Case

Postby king_of_direction » Dec 30th, '09, 14:39

Hi guys, am new to the sight but desperately need some help!

I've just started putting together my new close up act and require an aluminium case either made to order or a product sold as a standard.

Are any good dealers selling these online? Or ideas of where I shoudl be looking?

Many thanks in advance! :D

Hi, you should probably head over to the introduction section before you do anything else.
There are many discussions on here regarding cases, try the search function. B&Q sell some excellent cases and they are very cheap. Don't bother with the cases from magic dealers. They are generally the same cases just at about 5 times the price.

There are some very nice looking diamond-plate, steel and aluminum handgun cases on the market.

I was also going to suggest looking in B&Q. I've bought mine from there and they're still as good as the day I bought them (several years ago).

Will cost around £12 which is good value.

I use a metal makeup case, mine came as part of a full makeup set which I'm guessing that you wouldn't want but you can pick them up seperatly and they're not that expensive.

Don't be tempted to glue a close up pad to the lid as a performance area, instead use velcro or thin magnets - otherwise the pad becomes very dirty and is a nightmare to replace (from experience) Also some rubber feet on one side (when layed flat) are useful. I had one i used for a long time it evolved into a portable theatre!

Note to our US members: Gun cases are not generally available in the UK!

If you can get to a Makro, they regularly do good deals on a nest of three. Or else Maplin -- cases of all sizes, with foam you can cut out yourself to fit your stuff.

Not necessarily. Air rifle/pistol cases are available from many good fishing/hunting stockists, or for purchase online.

I've got a very nice metal case with felt lining that came with a cheap Poker set. I think the set was about £9 and came with chips, cards, even a playing mat that is pretty good quality. Works great as a closeup case.

A bit harsh.

I am a manufacturer/dealer and I sell a case table. I do get cases from B&Q for abot £12 and sell them at £75 but this includes a chrome stand and a custom made bracket. Unless you have the skill to make the bracket yourself and have the necessary kit I doubt you could put it together yourself for that price. It involves strengthening the bottom and lining it with felt. Ther are some rogue dealers out there but don't tar us all with the same brush. If you want to see my case go to:

www.madetomeasuremagic.co.uk/General/case_table.htm

I also make a bag that you can clip on the back. I don't have a photo at the moment but will be officially launching it at Blackpool this year.

David.
