Call of the Wild by John Bannon

Effect:
This is a wild card type of effect.
During the presentation, one person is given blank cards face up, the other facedown.
The idea is who can do the most magic with one card, say, the Ace of Spades.
First, one set of blank cards change into all Ace of Spades
Second, the other set changes into 5 aces, but varoius suits.
Finally, the 5 aces of spades change into a royal flush.

Price and Props: For about $20, you get all cards and a nice set of instructions.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I'll give this a 3 because most magicians should know the two major counts used in this effect.

Overall:
10/10

I wanted you to see the potential behind this effect. I perform this as a blaine vs angel contest.
If you watch the demo, you can see a lot magic.
Do I do it exactly as the trick, NO,NO, and NO.
I never liked placing the card 2nd from top.
There are more subtle ways to get it where it needs to be.
The moves are simple, but MUST be practiced to look good.
I am sure you can see where this person needs to improve.
Although the cards can not be examined, if you are into table hopping, reset is automatic

This effect was on his Smoke and Mirrors DVD published a long time back (when John had black hair). It may have also been in one of his books but im not sure. On his DVD it is performance only but the fun is reverse engineering it.

The original Bannon patter is better than the UTube vid noted here and the kid does not use the same move in the first bit for the reveal of 4 aces. It looks wayyyyy to dubious . Bannon does a multiple turnover i think which looks better than the kid in the Utube vid. unless i missed something.

A great effect but make sure you scrape the cards up quickly afterwards eh. Anyone who knows the wild card can quickly figure this out from Johns DVD( perormance only)
