Digital Camera/Computery question

Postby Lenoir » Jan 12th, '10, 13:42

Just a quick one ladies and gents,

I remember back in the days of school photos, the photographer would have his/her camera attached to a computer. As they took the photo, rather than trawl through the images on the camera, it would instantly appear for review on the computer screen...

Anybody know to do this, what it's called etc? It would really help on one of my assignments.

Just plug your camera into the computer via the firewire, and whatever software the camera came with should let you do this.

It entirely depends on the camera you own and the software provided. Expensive Canon and Nikon models often have this feature (and utility software to enable it). The software allows you to make changes to aperture and shutter speed, etc. You may find that a compact digital camera can be used in a similar way using the software that comes with Windows, but I don't think you can use manual settings for that.

I think that if you open the memory card folder on your PC using internet explorer then select slideshow you should be able to get the picture up but you'll need to use the pause button.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

He wants to activate the camera using the laptop, if I read his question correctly. We now know he has a Canon 5d, which means he'll need to use the EOS Utility 2.6 software that comes included with it. You can download the manual from here.
