Flaming card?

Postby Matthius88 » Jan 13th, '10, 01:38

Is there a gimmick for making a card burst into flames in my hand? I've been thinking about doing this for a while, having a card selected, supposedly getting the reveal wrong, then having the spec stare intently at the card and all of a sudden, poof! It goes up in flames.

Any ideas if there is something on the market for this? Or if anybody knows a homemade method (I know of chemicals that will do it but I dont really want to be mixing them in my hand!)

Not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but you can buy a similar prop here:

In this case the card surface burns away to reveal the correct selection.

There's a link here on talkmagic that someone posted, with Dynamo performing the trick. Went down well on Soccer AM

Could you use a combination of a finger flasher (careful :D !!), approrpiate 'paper', 'string', or 'cotton' and perhaps a little lighter fuel on the card? Sounds a bit risky as the card would be held in the fingers and thus likely to be singed if not actually burned.

I was thinking something along the lines of Flare, the self-lighting ciggarette trick, but just using the same principle... ingredients, if you like, on a card. No idea if it will work though.

Those flash cards look awesome though, thanks for that :D

However, mandrake, you idea sounds rather dangerous! Lighter fluid + finger flasher = me on fire. Getting the fluid onto a card would be a challenge in itself without getting it on clothes/skin.

Are you just looking for me to set myself on fire? lol

Well there is plenty of ways to light fires like... If I were you though think about your health first is it worth going through the flashy reveal this is your card, when I think it will be over shadowed by OW F**K my hand!
