This is coming out on my birthday, looks like a pretty damn good remake of the original (and still the best) werewolf film. Anyone else going to go see The Wolfman when its out?

Good cast too, Benecio del Toro and Antony Hopkins.

I saw the previews on this several months ago and have been waiting with baited breath ever since. It has one heck of an amazing cast and from what I've seen, they are holding much closer to the classic idea of the Wolfman ala Lon Chaney, which is the thing that really intrigues me.

It's definitely on my TO DO list

Id like to see this, though im not sure if it will live up to my expectations :). I am a huge fan of both the Universal horrors of the 30s and 40s, and also the Hammer horrors of the 70s - the Wolfman being one of my favourites. I am always wary when a classic is being remade, and the Wolfman is definetely a classic. I also feel that alot of the 'atmosphere' can be lost when colour is used.
Anyway, heres hoping it has translated well, and the new version retains some of the elements that make the original great. I look forward to seeing it :) jim

It does look wonderfully gothic (as it should do seeing as it's directed by former art director/visual fx designer Joe Johnston). My only worry is that you get to see an awful lot of 'werewolf' stuff and plot revelations in the trailer.... usually when a trailer gives away this much info it's never a good sign for the film itself. But fingers crossed!!

The gothic revival also continues apace with this Nicholas Cage curio...

First I've heard of the Wolfman movie, but it's now one that I'll make a special trip to the cinema for. :)

I think it was in Writing magazine last year that somebody predicted werewolves would be the next big thing, now that vampires have been run into the ground.

Vampires have been completely tamed nowadays, turned into sympathetic heroes more likely to sing you a ballad than suck your blood. Are werewolves going to be given the same treatment?

For entirely personal reasons that I'm not going into, I avoid werewolf stories. But I must agree the movie certainly looks stylish, if nothing else.

Unfortunately I think we still have some way to run with the whole vampire thing..... The teen angst Twilight films will continue to be churned out for a few years yet.... sigh...
Hollywood studios are always scared they'll miss out on a trend which is why we had 2 Christopher Columbus movies, 2 Robin Hood's, 2 Volcano movies and a couple of 'comet smashes into earth' films... At present count there are currently about half a dozen werewolf films in production:

Judging by 'the book of eli' and 'the road', im thinking that the next spate of movies will be the whole 'armaggeddon-and-society-is-out-to-get-you' type of fad
