Can I ask something - as someone who shares your pipe dream - what are you performing as your closer? I personally finish with a very quick prediction that was hanging on stage all the time, predicting a random word someone would say over the phone.

I dont think Chris will be revealing his closer before the show Tom lol. Also Chris make sure your SM team is completly 100% sure what they are doing. And ALWAYS try and get a dress run on the day of the performance, you dont know who has wandered on stage that morning and moved that "Vital prop". Make sure all your Pre-set checkes are done by you and your SM's and ASM's. These should be done just before the half, and just beofre the house opens. This means no nosey b**ger is guna come and move your props....it happens. In the space between the half and beginners just relax. Be ready by the 15 minute. ANd just sit, close your eyes and mentally go through your show one more time on your own. Then its time to go.

IN the week leading up to the show dont go full pelt with your voice. Save it for the realy thing. you'll be suprised how quickly your voice goes. get loads of sleep, eat LOADS of fruit and drink lots of Honey and Lemon. Sorts out all vocal problems. DONT TAKE STREPSILS or similar.. they just numb your throat and you dont know the damage your doing.. not cool.

Enjoy mate :)

you asked me to take you to task over some things on this forum beardy, so i shall...

when you've rehearsed this...have you not twigged that 2 hours is a trifle long, especially for your first stage show?

and..."some of whom i have never even met before..." - yes dear, its called an audience...

there you go...tsk, tsk, tsk...

i'd have said 80 minutes tops, two sets of 40, but even then...i personally (and speaking as someone who doesnt do stage) - two half hour sets would have been enough surely?

i think we all fall into the trap at times of trying to cover everything, mix and match - when keeping it simple, all tied together under your own "skills umbrella" (there i made that up) would be better for clarity of mind...

still, good luck, hope the crucifix doesnt hit you on the head and crush your face into the broken glass :D

Cheers for all the tips guys!

Yes 2 hours may be long...but too late now, and it should be fun either way!

The closer? I'm not going to tell you, as I may end up performng this show more than once assuming that it is well received...

Tickets are indeed on the website ;)

Forgetting about the show though, I will go as far as to say that this finale is epic...well, in my opinion :P

seriously though, if it all goes wrong just change your name. That's really the worse that can happen. Actually, I can think of far worse things in regards to your name being reviled forever in Wales, sued for ticket refunds and prosecuted for being a charlatan and a fake. But I think you are already kicking off the adrenalin :)

My worst time was being on TV next to Jane Asher and my brother was constantly texting me to snog her. Although my phone was on silent it was buzzing constantly throughout with the 20 messages he sent, LOL

Don't say the closer and spoil the surprise! I'm looking forward to it too much!

In other news: If you do ever put on the show in other places, or different shows and need SM/ASM/production assistance, give me a shout - I've got some experience in those areas (in a non magic setting though).

Pre-show nerves are not uncommon.

But, if you're like that FOUR WEEKS before the event, what will you be like the night before.

Remember: If you know your material, you'll be all right.

And, most important, you know what you are going to do, not the audience. Therefore you have a HUGE advantage over them!!!!!

cheers,

Stop being negative. Questions like, 'what if it goes horribly wrong' although are normal, they are counter productive. You already have the advantage. They are coming to see you! Sounds scary yup indeed but they are not coming to watch you fail. They are on your side. You don't travel that far to see a show and not expect it to be wonderful.

So,

We are all on your side
You are on your side
The audience is on your side

You are going to be great, now keep worrying about it because you are going to anyway, but try to live in the moment and enjoy the time.

I know this is off topic but how big is the theater (how many people does it seat)? Just curious. :)

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Now I have the time off from work to go, and I've booked my ticket, I have to wonder if we're going to get a mini meet-up around the time...

(For once, I feel OK with meeting other TMers as an idea, ignoring my inability to do anything decent aside from the darn human blockhead and therefore would be playing the role of newbish moron for the evening)

A meet up is fine...always nice to have people to chat to...means I dont have to wait for a london meet I can actually make it to once or twice a year :P

And I meant 150 capacity not 1500...
