I'm a glutton for punishment. Can anyone point me to a good resource to learn to read/speak latin?

I would recommend lessons rather than something passive and online. I had to study this complex language at school and it's not easy (I am barely qualified even to talk about this). Probably no less complex than English, but the rules are less forgiving. Anyone who's had to learn it will, I am sure, agree.

I would strongly recommend Rosetta Stone, it is a bit pricey (my wife wanted to learn Arabic which cost £379) but it's very interactive and really works to make you think about the language you are learning.

It is so good I am currently eyeing up the Japanese course but I keep depleting my language fund to buy more mentalism books.

Study law. That way you get to charge up to £400,00 an hour while showing off your knowledge.

I have a set of three very good Latin textbooks that I was eventually going to put on eBay but will happily point your way instead. (I've recently bought the revised versions.)

I've been waiting to sell them because I wanted to write up a full set of study notes for inclusion with them. This won't be possible for the foreseeable future, but we could always have e-mail tutorials if you like!

It's the Lingua Latina series, and the three books cover the whole of Year 1 and half of Year 2, so there's quite a lot in there. The "gimmick" is that they're written entirely in Latin, so you have to think in Latin and pick it up as you go along. It really does work wonderfully well.
