From my somewhat limited experience of other Magic Conventions, they're all different and the each have advantages over the others. Yer pays yer money and yer has a great time!

South Shields !!

South Shields — way better than Blackpool in my opinion!

This year was my first Blackpool experience. Things did not all go well for me. I lost my luggage on the train on the way there, that put a blight on the whole weekend. I tried to do anything and everything available, wore myself out and didn't once make it to the Ruskin. Oh, and I spent too much!

So, I came home vowing that this would be my first and last Blackpool.

It's funny how time blunts the memory.

My 2011 tickets arrived yesterday!!

Resolutions for Blackpool 2011:

Do not lose luggage!!
Pace myself so that I can do more of the things I want to do.
Meet up with peopole I planned to meet last time but never got round to contacting.
Spend time reading the programme and planning what I do want and need to see and do.
Spend less.
Drink more.

Oh and a real bonus is that because I booked in good time I have front stall seats for the evening performances, last year I was at the back of the balcony.

Roll on February!!

I've yet to buy mine either but you know you want to Lawrence.

Let me know when you do and I'll transfer the money over to you for my tickets

Too many people this year were telling me how sober I was this year. I blame that on your absense

Yeah, I can see that. We'll make up for it next year? Maybe I'll do my other knee in, or an elbow.

Might buy them next weekend. I'll give you a shout before I do.

Anyone know what's going on with tickets this year? Can't see Gold Card prices or one day pass. The girlfriend wants to tag along for one day while I go for the full weekend.

It's all changed for 2011 to include FISM European Competition and there are no VIP passes and no after show party on the Sunday. For all other queries it's probably best to ask Arthur Casson, Registration Officer - contact details

In previous years they announced some names from about October onwards and then added to the list up to the end of January.

So, not too long to wait then. My dilema now is do I fork out for an extra nights hotel because I see they are starting the FISM competitions on Friday morning?

Decisions, decisions.....

I have looked at various options and I will go up on Thursday afternoon, there is no other way of being sure of getting to the first competitions on the Friday

Booked my hotel today. I work for a well known hotel chain but don't get discount. So I have been shopping around. Found a guest house in Vance Road, ( about 2 roads down from the Ruskin) called the Lynbar and have done a good deal for 4 nights B&B. I decided to get up there on the Thursday so that I don't miss any of the competiyions on Friday.

Just waiting for the window to open to buy my train ticket now, I think thats about 90 ndays in advance.
