If i had a time machine i would.......

Postby daleshrimpton » Mar 3rd, '10, 12:03

On the train this morning, i had a thought.

If you had a time machine, and could go anywhere in your past.. where would you go, and why?

Me..

I would go back to the 80's and visit the theatre i used to work f.o.h in.

I would go to one particular show, which was an early outing for Rik Mayall and Ade Edmunson. as The Dangerous brothers. the show also had Alexi Sayle, and the oblivion boys ( Mark Arden and Stephen frost)

I remember the evening , because at some point a guy came up to me and politely asked.. How are they doing?
I said.. Its hard to say. I cant see the humour in sombody shouting the word F**k over, and over again.
If i had looked at the guy asking, i would of seen that it was Alexi.. Who's a big bloke. And at the time, looked as hard as they come.Clearly he's a bit of a pussycat these days.

Anyway, I'd like the chance to go back, to watch these alternative comedy gods, with opened eyes.

how abut you?
Where and why would you like to revisit?

I cannot really think of anything in my past I would like to travel back too. I can understand why it would be worth you travelling back to the comedy show again as you did not appreciate it for what it was at the time, however it may have just been that whey were rubbish?

I have seen Rik Mayall and Ade Edmonson several times on their Bottom tours and find them hilarious but it might have just been a pants show you saw or when the idea was just starting to form and was not all that funny yet?

There a various things throughout history I would love to travel back to experience first hand given the chance but nothing from my own life that I would want to watch as a third party. :)

I don't think I'd like to go back. I think I'd be disappointed at the gulf between what I remember and how things really were. The secret, it seems to me, is to grasp what look like positive opportunities in life as they arise and to regret what you did rather than what you didn't and no longer can.

The past is the past the future we have not lived yet, its all about the present, I would not go back ad change a thing, as you learn from everything, ok maybe I wouldn't be so fat but other than that the past should be left where it is.

Look to the future now its only just beguuu'uuuun

I did not see this as an "if you could go back and change anything" discussion, more "if you could go back and experience something again" type thing.

I like my life so I would not want to change anything in my past as it would almost certainly make my life different to how it is now.

I agree with Tomo about the gulf of time. I remember thinking Stephen king's IT was an awesome film when I was a teenager that should not have been watching it but seeing it (crikey how many years ago now :( ) I thought it was so/so.

Ohhhh Sorry, Hmm something to experience again, ok, my first gig, with what I have learned now, i would be more confident in myself, I would appreciate myself rather than thinking ill of myself as now I know that it all turned out ok :-).

Is that better.

I'd go back to October 2009.. to be exact the period of weeks 5,6,7 and 8 of my first Uni term. I'd have done things very differently if I knew what I do now..
