Well, I can't be bothered to go back and read my comments, but I hope I did not say 'use a pocket writer'. Use whatever you're better with- I would rather see you performing with a swami gimmick WELL than terribly with a pocket writer, the reason why I said to use a pocket writer is that if you are doing your swami writing in your pocket it would be
easier than using a swami, but whichever you do best. Pocket writing can give very bad results done poorly, it is one of those things whose sucess depends largley on stuff which isn't entirley tangible or easy to explain such as attitude, misdirection and just a certain 'mannier' from the performer.
ALSO, on this topic, I read in another forum, which was shut before I could read it, a certain infamous tmer saying that swami gimmicking and it's nature is a disadvantage. Being English, I decided it was time to write an angry letter- I seem to devote too much of my time doing that- but consequently I get good grades In English

Let me cut out all my rantings and arguments for my concluions I will happlily provide should anyone care, but the fact is swami gimmick-'ing' is devistating to an audience in the hands of somone who knows what on earth they're actually talking about. All one needs to do is track down Derren browns use of one on youtube, the genuine conviction he holds for his 'powers' and nonchalance in dealing with the necessery compromise (and let's face it, ALL of magic is the art of dealing with compromise which crops up in pretty much everything) and watch the reaction. It was certainly more precise and specific than any psychic I have ever seen. I aplogise have you not read the said thread, but I needed to ventilate my fumes. fszzzzz!!
