I guess the true answer to the original question should be.

It depends on what your using it for.

If you only want to stick a couple of cards together for a bit, there are hundrens of products available, including Saliva, for that truly impromptu vanish.
I like Candle adhesive, though it's a wee bit messy. Its a thin beeswax paste, that comes in a small round tin. It Smells of bubblegum.

There again if your anchoring a thread you can go for beeswax, some brands of tack, the wax off of mini babybell cheese, silicone buds, double sided tape... all sorts. :)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Magicians Wax

Postby Allen Tipton » Apr 7th, '10, 11:01

We wrote quite a lot on Magicians Wax(Robbins)-- back in 2008. Use the Search.
Robins Wax is obtainable from MagicNevin.Co. at £1:75 Also the Magicians Library Shop.
Ordinary? Magicians wax costs 99p at Discount Magic.

Look up Clive Leewarden's place- The Bond Agency/Card Collection. Here you will see at least a dozen different kinds--with pics.

Then there are the various Waxes of Michael Ammar.

One magician recommends Dental Wax-- transparent & in a little tube.

Get waxing guys but don't use it on the chest or legs!!!!!!!

And you forgot my favourite for Cards, Dale----MELROSE. Ask at the chemists.
Some use Lip Salve but i have used Melrose for nearly 40 years!!

Are any of the above suitable for use with Jon LeClair's Animator, instead of the supplied putty?

Magicians Wax

Barry; Certainly not Melrose or lip salve. And not Robbins wax--it will be too hard on flesh.
An idea I once had, but NOT tried out, was to wind the end of the Animator into wax and then that end into a small piece of cotton wool.
The cotton wool then goes where the end of the Animator goes. When people see it and even if they possibly notice it, according to my idea,it is in a natural place.!!
Worth a try.

My oldest friend (an ex pro; we were teenage magicians together) takes some ,I think,(have to check)white tack (as opposed to blue)
works some, very thoroughly rouge (blusher these days) into it, to make it flesh coloured.
He did send me some and it did work.

Magicians Wax - Mesika

Postby TheGreatRaymondo » Jun 9th, '10, 12:36

IMHO the Yigal Mesika wax is by far the best.
As with all things Mesika it's expensive - but good!
You get a nice little white round tin containing 150 small
pre-cut round pieces of white / clear wax. The tin closes air tight
protecting the product.

I have used most types of wax in the past but eventually settled for this.
