A magic dealer I know made a dire prediction that in 5 years 50% of brick and mortar shops will be gone. I wonder if he is right?

If I hadn't found it, I'd never have started. It's not exactly huge but as a newbie, I found it to be a lot of fun and it inspired me to go learn more.

As for Mike Danatas Magic Studio... I lived about 10 minutes bus ride away for about 3 years and had no idea it was there. I'm gutted I never got to take a look.

There used to be a small magic shop in Bath run by a card magician but it disappeared without a trace about a year ago (maybe longer, I don't visit that often). Anyone know if it moved or still trades in the area?

Me too - although I was very luck that the studio was pointed out to me before I moved away.

It was James Brown, who I met in Bournemouth and got to know before he made his fame and fortune who pointed me in Mike's direction.
