Any good stage magic tricks that you recommend?

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

You could leave it out? It really isn't about what you do, it's about how you do it. Allen's idea is a well structured, entertaining (if performed right) and proffessional routine. If you stick to that, but with your own modifications, you can avoid the horribly awkward line "and for my next trick", and properly entertain. And if you really want to teach a trick, please teach something like one of the "betcha's" in Mark Wilson's Complete In Magic, or something, rather than a proper effect. If you don't have Mark Wilson's, I recommend you buy it, but obviously you may struggle getting hold of it before the show, so maybe it may be ok if I taught you one betcha via PM? I don't know what the rules would be in this instance. :?

Good Stage Tricks

Postby Allen Tipton » May 2nd, '10, 22:53

N: .ONE LAST TIME or next Friday will be here!!

You WANT to use the cheap 2 silk colour change RIGHT:

1. Show the 2 silks. Change their colours.
2. Show hand empty.Place one silk over that hand; fingers curled in.
The other silk dangles down.
3. Dig your thumb into the silk.Wave your empty hand over the silk.
4. Produce the small silk from the silk.
5. Discard the 2 joined silks by throwing them across your shoulder i.e
with the feke 'ring' side lying down behind your back.
6. You can THEN either vanish the small silk & reproduce it, if you want a
longer routine then push it into the tube & produce the flower.OR just
push it straight into the tube & turn it into a flower.
7. Then produce the flowers OR EVEN pick up the double colour
change silks & use them as cover to produce the flowers.

FRIDAY is getting closer!!!

I'm going to tell you something, you are not going to listen, but I'm going to tell you anyway.

I know people who get paid thousands of dollars to do what Allen Tipton just did for you. He did it unsolicited really, he did it for free, he did it because he wants you to succeed.

Listen to the man, use the routine, get passed friday and then work out something for yourself when you have the time to do so.

One additional comment that I can't help but voice. Your linking rings are too hard to see? What are you linking finger rings, (which I have seen done infront of an audience of hundreds).

The problem with linking rings is not that they are hard to see, the problem is very few make them entertaining.

quite frankly - why should anyone help you if you're going to go and expose a trick? you're not part of the magic family if you're off out abusing it...

Thanks to the good folk of TM, there's enough free help and support in this thread to start several careers so as that obviously isn't good enough, we're all done here. Next stage would be for you to go out and pay someone a lot of money to mentor and teach. Best of luck.
