Flowers have died :(

Postby Beardy » May 25th, '10, 21:51

Helloooo

I brought several bunches of flowers yesterday from tesco, and it said on the wrapper "guaranteed for 5 days"

One bunch have now died...even though they were in water...

I'm assuming I can't take it back as it is out of the original packaging (in a vase) and there is no proof it was the original bunch?

What would you recommend?

Love

Chris

I would take them back. Even if I didn't have the reciept. (although it is better if you do) They are flowers of course you have to put them in a vase, surely they would understand that.

Today you can't even open packages without destroying them. Yet I always take something back if it doesn't work, (must be returned in original packaging my lilly white, *rse.)

Ok - I'll see how you go about taking things back to a small tesco express where everybody is a part time worker and has no power :P

Haha - well I said I was in the doghouse yesterday!

It is events like these which caused me to buy several bunches of flowers, instead of the one set ;)

Ahh - I did wonder

If it was me, I'd have given her the dead bunch, and told her to consider herself lucky

(Did you get my PM, btw?)

I work at tesco and trust me they should refund you or give you more flowers if you can prove you bought them. If you have the receipt and you take the flowers with you they have to refund you by law.

Hope it works out alright!

You're buying flowers for the missus from Tesco when you're already in the doghouse?!

Where's that head-slapping smiley when you need him...

tesco are one of the better ones when it comes to replacement and refund, providing you have the reciept.

dont go to the till, go to customer service, if its a big one, or the manager, if it's small.

going to the till only annoys the people cuing behind you.. and they cant refund anyway.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Yeah customer services should provide a pretty quick refund for you, ive seen customers get ridiculous condolence refunds for tiny imperfections with product.

Supermarket managers, especially in Tesco, are taught that it is better just to provide the customer with a full refund and their apologies, than try to argue against them.

P.S. If you come up against some young hotshot on customer services who refuses to refund you, just ask for the manager and they will almost always provide one.

If they argue, just start blabbing about the Sale of Goods Act 1979. Durability is an aspect of satisfactory quality.

Throw in some latin and they'll assume you know what you're talking about. (The stuff about the SoGA is true though, so you shouldn't need latin ;) ).
