Over night people have realised that they cant live without something, that we all have been living without for years, and years.

its just a big iphone, but square...

i'd wait at least a year - look how quickly the different versions of the iphone come out...improvement after improvement...you wont be able to upgrade your ipad the same way...it'll become costly...

after a year, a price drop, better tech and probably a better screen (and who knows a built in dvd drive)...

they do look pretty though...

the thing is, remember music players before the touch screen fad came into being? you could jump tracks and alter volume just by putting your hand in your coat..

now, you have to pull the whole damn machine out of your pocket, unlock it, then start dabbing at the screen...is that really an advancement?

Yes thats what Im debating, the whole, waiting for the improvements thing...dvd drive, usb, camera etc...very much like the idea of one for business rather than pleasure..handy to carry a cv on, and client database to be used in therapy as referal device etc. Some place for all my magic ebooks and pdfs also...I had a play on one, and its scary how kinda normal and second nature it felt.

Its not as good for business as the old brick telephone was back in the 80s, because everybody will be walking around with one.
the brick was a status symbol. the pad.. Its a bit chavy bling init. :)

i'd imagine in a year or so, a mass market of "old" ipads being hacked and altered...think i'd rather buy one of those...

then there's the whole "flash" problem too...

if lee or chris buy one, gimme a shout in nine months time when you're selling yours and i may be interested..

(remember to remove all porn too please)

The newspaper reviews were all a bit disappointed. It doesn't multi-task, so you can't (for instance) play music while reading an e-book. Or, more usefully, play a recording and transcribe it with the word processor. Nobody really liked the virtual keyboard for typing anything longer than a memo.

The biggest grumble seems to be the territorial dispute between Apple and Adobe, meaning the iPad can't handle Flash. So, yes, you can browse the internet, but a lot of sites won't be much good to you.

The Apple fanboys will rush out and buy it anyway. Everybody else is advised to hold their fire and wait for improved models. In the meantime, a netbook will do the same stuff and some of it better.

Yeah, it's really just an i-Touch for giant people.

If you really want a good pad, go with an Asus pads. If iPad was David Blaine, Asus is Copperfield.

Just my opinion of course, and I am no Mac hater.

After talking to a journo who's been playing with it, the impression is that the iPhone isn't quite a lot of things, save for neotard fodder.
