While I'm fairly confidant The movie is going to rock. As an Über geek I must insist you try to read the comic first. It's a manga written by a Canadian so you know it's awsome.

He, knew this would be coming along.

Every time there's a new comic film I'm reminded of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

I actually saw an advanced screening of this a few months ago. One of those where they give you a questionaire afterwards.

The special effects weren't all finished at the time, but the concept was great, and it played really really well.

Right up until the ending that is. I won't spoil it for people, but suffice to say it made me leave the theater thinking "so what was the point of the 90 minutes before that happened?"

I should also point out that the ending to the movie was conceived seperately from the comic, as the final volume of the comic was not written when they decided to make the movie, so this is not a review of the narative of the comic's ending. When the writer of the comic saw the ending the producers had given the movie, he commented that it was very different from his idea of where the story will end.

I hope that more people in the screenings put similar comments in like mine, and that a new ending has been shot to replace the one I saw, because I really did love the rest of the movie, and would love to own it, but will refrain from buying the DVD if that ending is still there, as I don't want to repeatedly watch it and think that there was no point to the story due to the last 5 minutes.

Not for me. I was hoping for something adapted from Alan Moore. :D The best comic adaptation has to be Jean's avatar. Awesome movie. Never get tired of seeing it.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a (non-hacked-about) film of The New Statesmen, now that CGI is capable of the necessary effects. You'd think the studios would be falling over themselves to get it, since Watchmen went over so well. The New Statesmen is similar in many ways, including a dystopian setting and the idea of superheroes being rejected by the society that made them -- literally, since they were created by genetic modification to be living weapons.

I'd go for anything based on any of the strips from Warrior or Toxic. I loved those comics, have complete runs of both, and still regret that they had to fold.

From Warrior, I'd really love to see Axel Pressbutton and Big Ben, and possibly The Bojeffries Saga. I would have said V for Vendetta but it's already been done!

From Toxic, the number one has got to be Accident Man, which I now see was optioned for film rights in 1997 but never got any further. Dinner Ladies from Hell was funny (the wives of the Four Horsemen) and could run to a comedy. Sex Warrior was a good solid story, and Brats Bizarre way over-the-top camp about decadent superheroes.

EDIT: I confused Makabre with T-Bone (it's been some years). Loved T-Bone. I doubt anybody would make a T-Bone movie, though, since the story's basically about a homicidal psychopath. As the good guy, I mean.

Isn't that the series which appeared in 2000AD? Alas, I've never seen it. Alan Moore has done some amazing work with comics. He's a true master storyteller in that respect.

The idea of the female as the hero for a change is great too. I'm no comic collector or expert, but my all time fave (after V for Vendetta) has to be Fallen Angel. Superb. It would probably make a great movie too if it was done properly.

A female hero has been done before, but your right. What was truly great was that it was a female character who was more than just an adolescent masterbatory fantasy. She was a real, complete person.

Love the Scott Pilgrim comics/manga. Cannot wait for volume 6. If the ending of the movie is different, I hope it's at least a happy kind of different, as I expect the comic's ending to be.

I'm just hoping the humor will translate well. Before seeing the trailer I didn't think it was possible.

Saw the film on Sunday and loved it, I am not one for comics usually but i went out and got the first two volumes and as far as I can tell the film follows closely.

Might have to get the kick ass graphic novel too loved the film as well.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.
