I am looking for a line of patter where I mention that because you cannot see something doesnt mean it doesn't exist as you can use other senses such as sound.

So

What do we know that exists that we normally cannot see but we can hear?

I was thinking the wind but you see that more often than hear it.

My only other thought was a fart but it might break the mood of the routine a bit

Not knowing what tone you've set in your routine, I'd be tempted to say something like headaches or the feeling of pain. Maybe also on a more philosophical note, tree's falling in a forest with no one around...and even deeper still...the question of reality itself. When I step out of a room and can no longer see people, the place, the object etc., does that mean in my reality they are no longer existent, and are therefore only part of my conscious and sub conscious thinking...

Sound waves themselves can be heard but you can't see them.
Whereas, light can be seen but not heard. Refer to lightening and Thunder ?

The context if it helps is a coin disappears from my hand and makes a clinking sound elsewhere.

I wish to make a comment something like "magic is sometimes like............you cannot see it but you can hear it"

That's the jist of it.

thunder is quite a good emotive word

you can smell a loved ones perfume on an item of clothing, without ever seeing them wearing it.

you know where a damp dog has been, long after it stopped raining.

you know when it's going to be stormy, before the lightning starts.

this one is a classic....

you have never seen the back of your own head, but you know It's there.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

We know the expression "seeing is believing" but that sentement only arises because of the range of our vision. Amazonian jungle tribes value hearing something as being more evidential than seeing it simply because they are rarely able to see more than a few feet away. For them, hearing is believing. This, along with a life full of dangers and uncertainties, may help account for their continuing spiritual nature

As usual with the mentalists using a paragraph when just a word is needed

So far I'm going with

"magic is sometimes like thunder. The evidence is from what you hear rather than what you see...listen" *Clink*

or

"magic is sometimes like a heartbeat. The evidence is from what you hear rather than what you see...listen" *Clink*

Better wording would be.....

magic is like a storm.. you hear the rumble.. ( clink) before you see the flash.( open hand to show coin)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

:P If you go with my 'thunder' suggestion then I'll only accept half the usual performance and royalty fees. I don't want to appear greedy.

"Magic is sometimes like a lover's whisper... you cannot touch it and you cannot see it, but you can feel it in your heart... and you can hear it."

Probably a bit too romantic for old greedo.

Ideally, you'd talk about hearing it before mentioning the emotion, but that's the wrong way round for the trick. Also, it would be more poetic to leave out "in your heart", but there's a risk of confusion between touching and feeling (which can be synonyms, as well as bingo material).
