Opening the show

Postby Izzy Wizzy » Aug 4th, '10, 00:00

Hi,
I want to have a recording with music to open my kids magic show, something like...

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls welcome to the........etc. etc. then have some music for a minute or so to get the kids clapping, marching on the spot etc.

Does anyone know how I'd go about making something like this and then transferring it to my i pod.

Thanks

Tracey

Ideally some music with a voice over saying welcome to the show etc. then the music to carry on while I get the kids clapping etc.

Thanks

well you can use circus type music.

lots of it online etc, and you can record the voice over the top yourself. i'd recommend using audacity (As its free)

circus music is good as it fits in the theme with childrens magic / entertainment.

Opening The Show

Tracey. When you get the recording make sure that neither the wording, the music or You works the kids up TOO much at the beginning of your Show.
If this happened you would find it difficult to control them.
Just stick to clapping.

You could stimulate the clapping in a novel way by bringing on a glove puppet who is clapping. Just nod towards its hands or paws.
The visual interest in its appearance would help stop the noise getting out of control.
Another way would be to have 2 of those huge foam/plastic hands on your hands and enter clapping. Even holding 2 huge hands on two sticks.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember is: The Control of laughter, clapping, reaction to your work MUST come from YOU.
YOU must be in control. And RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING.

It strikes me that there may be a market for ready made downloadable introductions, with an extra charge for personalized ones in which the name of the performer, or specific characters are included.

:)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Hi,
Thanks for the advice Allen, I've just started out and have my 5th show this week. I've done 4 kids parties and 1 corporate event and I found that the kids at the corporate event were not half as Hyper as the kids parties i've done, I think it was probably that they didn't know each other and the shy one's felt uncomfortable shouting if they didn't have friends with them. It was harder at the beginning so I thought a bit of hand clapping etc. would break the ice for them.

Dale, I think it's a great business idea and searching the internet I think if you know how to do it you could make alot of money from it.

I've contacted a local recording studio to see how much they will charge to make me one.

Cheers
Tracey

Back in the good ol' days of cassette tape (!) Mobile Disco DJ's could buy a box of pre-recorded tapes with all sorts of jingles, intros and bits of business on them. For an extra fee the name of the DJ or the Disco could be added by the original voiceover artist, in our case a popular DJ on local Commercial radio. Nice little earner for him and a very professional image for the Disco....
