Nothing says love like a £16.99 ring.

Why a pk ring?

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

From what I hear (I don't use em), PK rings are very easy to break. Not what you want for an engagement ring I imagine

Buy a normal ring, buy a PK ring that looks similar (or the other way round if you must), do a little swapsie just before you start

Nothing says "I love you" like a gimmicky magician ring. Why not just get her a normal engagement ring..

don't get one - it'll play havok with batteries...

make her one, you can buy some pretty strong but small magnets these days - find the right ring (phnar) and go at it that way...

is she into magic too - or are you just going to try and weird her out with some kind of metallic phallus piercing?! :)

It sounds like you really worked this one out pretty well, making her feel part of your hobby and all

I'm sure she's been waiting all her life for such a romantic gesture.

Well, at least that'll give your grand children something to talk about.

Very romantic.
Are you getting her one for a joke?i would assume so,if not i wouldnt be at all surprised if the answer was NO.
If you really want to push the boat out, have you not thought she would prefer a himber ring,i think she would love one of those.(not)

she is still very new to magic, but loving learning and performing with it.
Hell, one of the reasons she loves me is the fact that I give her the confidence to stand up infront of folk. (but then compeared to me, anyone would look good)
I just thought it was a nice idea (all be it late at night after a 6 pack of special brew).
Maybe I should go back to my first idea and just take a normal ring out from behind her ear (high class magic)

That special brew does things to the mind,
But srely now, after a good nights sleep, you have had after thoughts, and maybe a trip to a proper jewellers is on the agenda.
If you can get a result with a PK ring, you must have the looks of Brad pitt,or maybe something about 10" long.yes im talking about your magicians wand.
Good luck with it anyway, and do let us all know how it goes.

Ok, so pk rings break too easily for everyday use. Are there any other rings that do groovey things that i can use?

Help My Marriage Dedpends On This

Postby Allen Tipton » Aug 22nd, '10, 10:55

I would hope your marriage depends on something stronger than a Mass Produced ring.
Good to know someone is still getting married these days.
Now-- afte 40+ years of marriage--I can say-Your Lady will be enthusiastic, loving etc about Your Magic but--pause a while--
Is this because she really loves you at this stage in your relationship?
Or is she really into Magic.
I suspect the first reason.

Years ago my wife & I wore the same coloured sweaters, had all the same meals, went into the same Theatre productions etc.etc. We did 3 mindreading acts, she helped in the Chinese Act. made props, helped devise my Floating Ball routine and made the actual 2 Balls then Magic became--'Oh I don't really like it but it is Allen's 'thing'--he absolutely loves it and it is good for him to have something separate to my likes.
Too many Committe Meetings here over the 8 times I was President didn't help, especially with magicians thrusting tricks, literally, under nose, with that ridiculous old cry--'have you seen this one?'
Her patience with them was outstanding.

BUT the one thing that has never changed was the small but lovely, individually chosen engagement ring. She still adores it.

So forget Magic--and certainly forget MASS produced rings.

Go out, possibly with her, and choose an individually made normal engagement ring. Not something ordered on line-go to an actual jeweller's.
Believe me in years to come she will look on your action & the chosen ring with great love & pride.

Now, the only magicians my wife remembers with affection, admiration and Respect are; Alan Shaxon, Paul Daniels, and the late Edwin & Victor Burnett.
As she says--and she has been on the stage all her life--'Magicians are not as good as they think they are!'

It's the basic LACK of Showmanship, Presentation, Stagecraft, Performing Personality, good manners in lots of cases and ego she deplores in most magicians.
And I agree with her wholeheartedly!
