dynamic coins? bu**er me no.

What would a stack of 10p coins vanishing and penetrating have to do with a proposal?

No.. You have a couple of options, one of which is getting in a magician to do it for you.
Find somebody good, and preferably local, and a nice location... and arrange to have it videoed.
you will then get a keepsake, but more importantly
The performer might just do this for free.. because if you put this kind of video on youtube, it becomes lovely marketing footage for the performer.

:)

To be honest, I would be surprised if a ring fits inside.
I think that as your going to produce the ring , rather than have it re- appear you could have it turn up in other places.

For example, borow a coin from your lady, and have it signed. you then vanish it.
On the table, there has been a brass box.

you hand her the box, giving it a little shake... she hears something inside, and assumes it's the coin.
she opens it and finds the ring.

from your point of view, the only bit of magic that you have had to do, is a simple coin vanish.. as the ring has been in the box all the time.

( although you can get boxes that you show empty before hand.. )

Remember, the whole thing, hinges on you being able to act as if the thing in the box, is the coin.. play it absolutly for real, and with total conviction.
And the magic will work.Trust me.

The magic in a marriage proposal should come from the love in your hearts and the romance of the situation. Don't muck it up with a display of tricks.

The only possible exception might be if magic has been a major component of both your lives. (And I do mean BOTH your lives. You demonstrating tricks to her polite applause doesn't count.) If you both practically define yourselves in terms of magic -- or music, or painting, or zoology, or whatever -- then it would be as natural as breathing to incorporate this shared passion into all your major moments. But in that case I doubt you'd be asking us what to do.

Trust me. I'm a girl. (Not a girly girl, but a girl nonetheless.) There are surprises, and then there are surprises. An unexpected but perfectly chosen little gift is not equivalent to sneaking up and yelling BOO when I'm trying to fix the sink.

Proposing marriage is a joyful but serious moment, and your minds should be full of nothing except how much you love each other. A *suitable* surprise would be taking her out for a special dinner and then suddenly popping the question over coffee. An *unsuitable* surprise would be playing pointless tricks with the ring.

(An engagement ring is supposed to be a precious thing, not just in monetary terms but as a symbol of devotion. You don't goof around with a precious thing.)
