Its obvious that he is hiding behind the alarm clock.

Its all down to scale you see. the alarm clock is very far away but absolutely massive. The guy simply lowered himself off of the bed onto a trolly attached to a pully system (much like teh great escape) and then scuttled to his safe haven behind the clock.

Sorted!

I may have been born yesterday but I stayed up all night.

I think this was posted once before.

It's not a camera trick but the audience are all stooges. I guess that would, technically, make it a camera trick as it's a trick that, from that angle at least, would only work on camera.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

There was a very dodgy edit just after he climbed into bed. I reckon they were almost spooning just after that edit and then he quickly hid himself to where she was previously hiding. I'm not sure where he hid his spiky hairdo though. Perhaps he was wearing a special fold up wig.

This is quite a nifty looking illusion. Sadly, as Ian pointed out, the audience are indeed in on it. With a bit of reworking it could be done live on stage, but the prop would have to be redesigned. From what I seen, this particular version would only work on television, ie in a two dimensional format. If seen live in three dimentions the audience would almost certainly see the true shape of the bed.
