Double Facers

Postby Mark Waddington » Aug 30th, '10, 17:42

Hi guys,

So, I go through a lot of double face cards when im working for anniversary waltz, but ive noticed in every deck of double faces I get, thers about 10 cards where both sides of the card have the same face.

Has anybody got any suggestions for effects that can be done with them? I have a drawer full of them now, and want to see if I can justify keeping them!

Thanks

Mark

Card reverses itself in the deck? (gimmicked method)

Split them and create more double facers?

Hi Mark
I vaguely remember reading an effect which used one of these cards. It may have been in one of Jean Hugards books but Im not certain. A selected card was placed between two face to face cards (jokers i think) and a signature or message appeared on the face of the sandwiched card.
Not much to go on i know. but the workings will be obvious and it may spark a few ideas

There is an effect in 13 Steps that requires just such cards, I will try to dig it out tonight. In the book it suggests splitting cards to create this and I have been looking for a deck of double facers with same backs as fronts to save me having to do this.

I have a pet effect that uses Twin faced cards, as opposed to double facers.

It has to be twins, because you execute a half pass, and DF cards mean you end up with duplicates in the pack, or a noticeable change in the faces.

It Has been posted on here, many years ago, i think it was called who needs a brainwave deck?
But i cant be sure.. Iv'e changed several bits of the presentation over the years.
anyways, It's there should you wish to search.

Indeed it was the effect that created the notion of the synchronist act.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Look into Anywhere Cards by Mike Maxwell, it's not double facers, but can easily be adapted, and is a fantastic routine if you are rubbish at palming, or want something super clean.

FACT:
There are far more gaffed playing cards than decent tricks worth doing with them.
