Pete Firman - Jokes and Tricks

It's titled something like that, anyway I think he kicks off a tour this Sunday at the Lowry in Salford, I'll be there.

Anyone else planning on seeing his show at somepoint in the run?

They had about 30 tickets left at the Lowry show as of yesterday.

just got tickets for the leicester show and my Derren Brown ones for Birmingham - trying to convert my wife to the world of magic - much easier since she got called on stage to help with a trick when we saw Penn and Teller in Vegas =D

South Street - that's a great venue, I might try and make that one.

I saw the show last night at The Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton - an ideal venue for Pete's shows, and it was almost a full house with only one or two seats not occupied.

Unlike that previous tour, there wasn't a warmup comedian, the first half seemed very familiar and he did much of the same stuff as the last tour but it was still top notch entertainment. The second half was mainly new stuff, the jokes came thick and fast although the sound system didn't do Pete's quick fire style full justice and some of the patter was missed. Classics such as when the audience didn't respond immediately he said, 'I know you're out there, I can hear you breathing' were used aplenty. Significantly Pete did the Human Gasometer effect which was mentioned on a separate thread on TM and he also did the bullet catch effect using a paint ball gun. The title of the tour is most apt, there are at least as many jokes, visible and verbal, as magic effects.

The show was definitely well worth seeing and certainly I'll be looking forward to seeing his next tour as and when!

Thanks for the review. I'm going tomorrow night for the Reading show with a couple of lads from the Home Counties Magic Society. Should be better than the usual Thursday night out anyway.
