Cheek to cheek reversed?

Postby janitso » Sep 23rd, '10, 11:45

Okay so basically last night I had one of those night again when Im up late lying in my bed thinking about card tricks..anyone can relate to this? lol
So I was thinking about Cheek to Cheek effect and was thinking that Id like to kind of reverse the way the trick ends. In other words id like the trick to end with all cards facing up instead of down and specs card would be the only card facing down. Makes sense?

So those of you who are familiar with the effect, have you ever done it this way or thought about it? obviously the cards would have to be different to the original set up if you know what i mean but for some reason I got really excited about this idea. :) any comments/opinions welcome.

Hi. I dont use the Cheek to Cheek cards, but I do a similar Triumph type effect. I always end with the deck being spread faces up, with the selected card face down in the centre. I find the reaction is much stronger this way.
It also fits in nicely with number 4 of Maskelynes 24 rules of magic, which states that 2 effects should not be shown simultaneosly. In the original version of the effect when the deck is spread face down with the card face up you will (well i did anyway) get one reaction or applause, because the deck is shown to be righted AND the card is revealed at the SAME TIME. Doing it the other way round, the deck is shown to be righted with one card face down - thats one reaction, THEN the card is turned over - another reaction.
If youre wanting to incorporate this into Cheeck to Cheeck simply replace the DB cards with DFers

Jim answered it the way I was going to: "If youre wanting to incorporate this into Cheeck to Cheeck simply replace the DB cards with DFers."

And how true that rule #4 is. This "rule" is often ignored along with the rule of taking time and letting the magic happen. So many, too many, want to deliver an instant gratification no matter what the effect is.

Thanks guys for valuable advice and information and yeah was going to do it exactly by replacing the DB cards with DF cards and change the handling a bit. Yep the rule #4 is great.
