Liquid Loads

Postby Ryan Compton » Oct 3rd, '10, 17:33

Hi all,

I've been playing around with a chop cup routine for some time now and was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with liquid loads for the finale?

To date I've come across one suggestion, that being on Scott Alexanders 'midnight show' DVD.

Any suggestions or tips for easy storage and transfer?

Cheers folks!

I know it's not the best advice in the world, but I remember in a lecture once (I can't remember who) a liquid load was used in a trick (worth mentioning it wasn't a cup and balls trick and the "switch" it uses wouldn't be appropriate), it was stored (I think) in the inside jacket pocket and was kept about two thirds full

I hope that was a bit helpful at least :)

Thank you, any advice is great! :)

Your post reminded me of a Pat Page lecture where he demonstrated a way of being able to produce a glass of orange juice etc from your jacket sleeve.

What are you wanting to load? A shot glass of liquid? or are you wanting nothing but liquid in the cup when you lift it?

The production at the end of the routine is explained in the DVD

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I'm looking to have the cup filled with water (actually coffee) at the end of the routine. This is the kicker ending for the routine.

Cheers,

Can you clarify. Which way round are you wanting the cup to be when the coffee is revealed? Open end up full of coffee, or do you want to lift the cup [as done for previous loads] and have spill over the table?
The second option poses more problems, not impossible though; but I wouldn't like to try it.

Hi there,

David Regal has a routine in 'Up Close and Personal'.

I think it's called 'Coco'.

This ends with a production of 'coco' from the cup.

Looks a nice routine, though I've not made it up and tried it.

All the best,
John.

Paul from Davenports Magic finishes his cup act with one being full with water, so you could give them a call.

Also, on a totally different but possibly related note, Elmsley's cup routine ended with them all filled to the brim with salt! Very interesting.
