help with the bongo hat

Postby cragglecat » Oct 10th, '10, 15:27

I bought a second hand bongo hat minus the instructions thinking "I'll soon figure out how to work that". Having unfolded it I can't figure out how to fold it back up without damaging it! Can anyone help please?

Thanks.

The diamonds fold up into triangles like this man is doing.

It looks fairly straightforward to me.

When you have finally figured out how to fold up the bloody thing I recommend thoroughly that you purchase "The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Lewis" since it has the best Bongo Hat routine of them all therein. It is an e-book and I know the author personally and can confirm that he is a genius of the first magnitude.

It's easy once you get the nack.

fold the front and back up, covering the giants face
making a triangle

squeeze the sides, which gives you a smaller diamond.

fold the loose points up, and repeat.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

While I have not seen Mark Perform this effect. I can tell you personally that Mark does not fail to entertain an audience. And although he does not remember meeting my friend and I at a fair he did in Vancouver, my friend and I (and we are both jaded when it comes to magic/andits alied arts) both very much enjoyed his hypnotism show. We were both concerned about the lady beside us who Mark did not have on stage but who was fully under the influence. And we were greatly relieved when Mark made sure she was okay, because I'm telling you, that lady was gone from this realm for awhile!

We were both blown away with his card magic that he performed for us when we introduced ourselves. Even though he did not remember me from years, (and I mean years) before when he perfomed at a psychic faire in Montreal.

My point being, is that while his review of himself may be a little on the biased side. And he can be a thorn in everyones side, I do like to remind people on here every now and again that Mark is a great resource and he really knows his stuff.

Oddly enough I am going to the same psychic fair in Montreal this very weekend. And thank you for your kind words. Naturally I agree with every one of them.

Well said. This is all sounding far too amiable. Mark - can you please say something rude about me being an idiot for not being able to figure our how to fold the bongo hat. I feel that we need to restore the natural order of the universe.....

Bongo Hat

Postby Allen Tipton » Oct 12th, '10, 10:47

'You really are an idiot'. YOU got off very lightly from a very definite genius of great magnitude.
You must buy his Svengali Deck book.
Mark is and always has been-- Real World

Allen Tipton

And when you change the Bongo Hat to the last green face--and see it on the child--YOU shout and jump in comic fear.
A good line these days is--'Oh it's only , thank goodnes, it's only Shrek'

i used to say.. Has anybody told you, you look like Daddy?

I realise now that what i should of done is put a weight on the giants chin, and slit the sides half way. I dont think it would of interfered with the folding. That would mean that the face could drop down over the childs face.

Great minds think alike. I also do what Allen Tipton says. I shriek with fear. I usually say "I thought it was my mother in law" which gets a bit of a laugh from the parents presumably because some of them have horrific mother in laws.

Bongo Hat

Postby Allen Tipton » Oct 12th, '10, 14:40

The point of the magician shrieking IN A FUNNY WAY takes away any kid's fear.
The same applies to bangs/noises--even party poppers & any flashes.
The magician takes the surprise and fear onto his own shoulders
