Where can I sell rights for producing a new prop?

Postby LoveKey1988 » Oct 12th, '10, 15:50

Hello guys!
I tought of a new prop that I think would be useful in magic but I don't really know how I would go about getting someoneone producing it and then the packing and sending so I was wondering if there was a place where I could sell my idea and let someone else produce it?

DON'T go to China. Chinese industry has a very loose definition of copyright at the best of times. They'll make knock-off replicas under a different label.

It depends entirly on what it is. Firstly are you absolutly 100% sure It's new?

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

I think that the best thing to do to start with is to get opinions and feedback on it from as many other people as you can. I've got a few trusted people who I ran both my books past before releasing them, just to check that they were up to scratch and I wasn't re-inventing the wheel.

When if people think that it's good then contact a few shops and see if they can help you.

make yourself a copy of the thing, post it to yourself recorded delivery - that way there is at least a record of it going/signed for...do not open the package when you receive it...

then approach a company you trust (for whatever reason) - magicshop.co.uk get my vote...

I'm with Dale, how about telling us a little bit more about it. what does it do? what effect will it allow us to achieve? The Lady is totally right in what she says..tell us what it is and lets give you some feedback.

Make sure what you've got is new and not being developed before you post even a description of what it appears to do on a public forum.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Don't try and give someone an idea and expect them to pay you for it!!!
Make the item, a prototype, then when you've got it working good make a display version to demonstrate to companies that might be interested. Your idea is worth little as anyone can claim to have had the same idea. Make a solid item.
