Close up magic false shuffles on a table without a c pad

Postby Miniolo » Nov 15th, '10, 23:50

hi :D i recently started expanding my full deck retention shuffles however i got a problem

i most of the times perform in the pub mostly standing :P but when i do table magic i ofcourse dont have a closeup pad

i find it is alot harder to do a zarrow shuffle or pushtrough shuffle without one...

i now use a sort of step to elevate the packet that i work with that get stripped out for instance in the push trough... so that i can grip the cards better... when i dont do that the bottom card of the packet i need to strip does not get in my grip...

what can i do to make this better?

i know the

heinstein
zarrow
up the ladder
push through shuffle
false riffle shuffle

i also say a full deck retention of Dan Fishman

does any one now where i can learn this on which dvd?

It actually tells you at the start of the clip :)
I had a look but could only find it in book form, BUT, almost everywhere I looked it was out of stock. The only one I came across which has it in stock is Elmwood Magic, they are based in the USA, which might not be much use to you. Heres the link http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/full/books- ... __8148.htm

Forgot to say. Do you have Expert at the Card Table, and Royal Road ? While parts of it were blurry due to the speed of the shuffle, it looks like a combination of shuffles from those two books.

Pablo Amira's got a lovely false shuffle in his 52 Pieces of Paper book.

maybe an 'in the hands' false cut would suffice, i use George McBride's from his BBM DVD.

George Mcbride? I learned to do a push through on a table, it just took time. Much like a classic force I practiced when I didn't need to actually have a false shuffle. Of course, I never need a false shuffle as I don't work with a stack. But I really enjoy the push through shuffle followed by an up the ladder cutting series.

The reality of the situation is all you really need is a false cut.

As has been mentioned: The shuffles in RRTCM are great as a basis for improvement.

I think I brilliant false shuffle is Guy Hollingworth's false waterfall shuffle which requires no table.

And once again I'd vote for some kind of false cut, prefering more 'pass' style false cuts.
