Hi Dale,

I would like it to be a good all rounder (i know, i know). For vanishing/switching/retrieving items like watches/rings/and cigarette lighters.

Does the standard devils hank come with the 'floating centre'?

no. A standard devils hank is effectivly a bag. some have one corner stitched in to form a smaller compartment, but if you put anything bulky inside, is shows up. If you are going to use it to vanish small items, like a ring, i would be inclined to put the ring into an envelope first, and vanish that.
dont dismiss the old ring vanishing cloth though, with the gaff in the corner. It still registers with lay audiences.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

 Those are frightening prices for something you can get free in most kiddie magic kits. I understand the whole fabric cost and how much someone thinks their time & skill is worth at the Surger/Sewing Machine, but I can't see the typical working guy coughing up that much cash for such a prop UNLESS it's extra, extra special.
