Magic Magazines

I am being asked what I want for Christmas (you can see that we like to prepare well in advance in the Wizz household!!) and I have been thinking about a Magic Magazine subscription.

I would appreciate the views of any members here who subscribe to these publications as to which (if any) is the best.

I'm not a subscriber, but personally I prefer Genii to Magic.

Not as keen on the UK magazines, but will read them if they are around, or buy an issue if I want a particular article.

I've had a subscription to Magic magazine for the last three years and I find it to be a good read, much of it is to do with US activities of course but it certainly adds an extra perspective to thoughts and impressions of our craft. In 2011 the electronic versio will be launched so there are possibly some changes ahead. I've been a Magicseen subscriber since being given issue 1 as a freebie at Blackpool that year and it's very good indeed.

I read both Magic and Genii on a regular basis, personally I tend to prefer Genii as it seems (to me at any rate) to be a bit more informal and I also love David Regal's reviews section. Another thing that may sway your decision is that if you take out a yearly subscribtion to Genii you automatically get online access to all 72 years worth of back issues!! I'm sorely tempted by it myself!

I like Genii as well.

I think there are less ads. in Genii than Magic Magazine.

Sometimes Magic Mag is flooded with ads.

I'd second (or third) Magic Seen. Very good, mostly UK based articles.

Magicseen is very good. UK-based and doesn't take itself too seriously.

(It could do with much tighter proofreading, but it has been improving a bit on that front.)
