Classic Card Magic

Postby dimabbq » Jan 2nd, '11, 05:45

Could anyone point me to a decent list of card magic classics that would include things like:

Oil & Water

Triumph

Collectors

Ace Assembly

Or simply add on anything that's worthy of merit.

Hi,

whenever anyone asks me specifically about card effects,PAUL GORDON always springs to mind.

He has numerous books/dvds. have a look at his website, they are all on there. hope this helps.

Here are some common themes that have dozens, if not hundreds, of variations thereof:

Out Of This World
Card At Any Number
Any Card At Any Number
Card To Wallet
Card On Ceiling
Do As I Do
Poker/Bridge Deals
Spec Cuts to Aces

I dont think you will find a list or collection of just the classics. To add to the ones mentioned Id say things like the Ambitious Card, Rising Card(s), Everywhere and Nowhere, Card to Pocket, the Multiple Selection, the Two Card Transposition and the Colour Changing Deck are all classic plots.
Check out some old books - Royal Road To Card Magic, Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, Expert Card Technique, Card Manipulations, Erdnase - all of these are easy to get hold of and contain many of the classics, sometimes in their original form.

Just what i was thinking. Next purchase sorted.

"Royal Road To Card Magic, Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, Expert Card Technique, Card Manipulations, Erdnase"

Don't worry, i have all these but thought there may be a comprehensive list out there.

Thanks .robb. thats perfect.

I also am in possession of a couple of Paul Gordon's books but they do seem to focus too much on variations that stray somewhat too far from the originals.

Another book i've just thought of is Stars of Magic.

Thanks guys

The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings is stuffed full of really good routines and is only £23.99 at magicbox!
