This is a trick/illusion I would like to master for a new stage trick. All my magic is done silently (some of it mimed) and often done in venues where te stage is rather close.

There are so many sets out there, any tips/recommendations? - I'm not sure where to start!!

All help on this would be appreciated.

There are several sources out there, including a DVD by Bizzarro and the 40 minute lesson I taped for my Virtual Sessions site. In the end the method is the smallest part of the trick, and the magic is in the routine you construct around it (and putting together your own spin on things is essential here).

Davenports make a servicable set (I've been using mine for 19 years now) but you will want to replace the blades with real ones. Otherwise, look around for comparable sets.

I used to have this effect in a paperback book years ago in the 1980s but unfortunately the book was lost before I'd finished reading the rest of the book. I remember being very upset that I'd lost the book but I can't remember what it was called. The trick is definitely in a cheap paperback book, I'm sure there are copies of it knocking around on Amazon or eBay. You just have to find out what the book was called. It wasn't a hugely expensive book if I recall rightly, just a cheap looking 1960s paperback.
